This process defines specific application-independent upgrades to the Sapphire and Topaz XL and is part of the application software. There is no separate download. The first version of GSD is 2.0 and applies to the first applications that support Topaz XL. However, there are changes to Sapphire and Topaz that occur at the same time and are interdependent. This means that GSD software is available for sites that are Ruby/Sapphire only and do not support Topaz (in any form). The following occurs at installation or upgrade: The upgrade or installation process changes for Sapphire and Topaz. If a site installs application software that includes GSD v2.0 and, for some reason, finds it necessary to downgrade, there are specific steps that must be followed to downgrade the firmware, diagnostic kernel, and the OS on the Sapphire and Topaz. Any VASC needing to downgrade from GSD to a version that does not include GSD must call the Verifone Technical Support Center to be guided through the process. The following determines if the application has GSD software: Beginning July 1, 2008, a column will be added to the Lab delivery Schedule. Release tes will begin to include the GSD version on the front page in the versions section. As new GSD versions become available, additional information will be provided to the Verifone Technical Support Center regarding any new issues with installation and/or revert processes. 8

Upgrade Summary Onsite Upgrades Overview All sites must use a full install. NOTE: All upgrades must be completed in sequential order. For example: GemPro, NewPro, Ruby GemPro, NewPro, Topaz Sapphire/Ruby/Topaz Site Installation Overview Sapphire installation uses files from BUYPAK_V6_02_09_Suite_Production_CD.exe, which, when extracted, contains GemPro for Gemstalling, folders for installing NewPro from a CD, and a folder containing the files to install Sapphire Management Suite. See Suite Installation CD Preparation. GemPro After extracting the files, use the GemPro Installation for Sapphire Sites procedure to install Sapphire GemPro. NewPro After preparing the CD, use the NewPro Installation for Sapphire Sites procedure, which uses a CD-ROM and HPV-20, to install NewPro. Topaz Workstation Installation Topaz workstations are upgraded from the same CD containing the NewPro installation: BUYPAK_V6_02_09_Suite_Production_CD.exe. Topaz installation follows Sapphire installation. See Topaz Workstation Installation. Sapphire GemPro Board Upgrade to CPU-6 The Sapphire Site Controller GemPro board software is to be upgraded from CPU-5 to CPU-6 if it has not already been upgraded. This software upgrade enhancing the operating system is accomplished at Gemstall time, and the process also converts the CPU-5 Ruby Card to a CPU-6 Ruby Card. Only the software is upgraded. The hardware remains the same. 25
NOTE: The CPU-6 upgrade is not needed if the OS version is or higher. The OS version is found on the Sapphire display. If the upgrade has been performed and then upgraded again, the program exits. NOTE: Failing to perform this procedure correctly could damage your system. This software upgrade is for Sapphire/Ruby or Sapphire/Topaz sites only. Documentation on the CPU-6 upgrade may be found on the Verifone Premier Web Connection at Petro Downloads > Sapphire > Sapphire and SMS: Other Documentation > Installation Guide in the PDF file CPU-6 Installation for Sapphire Base 160. WARNING:You must use Relsapp.vfg both to Gemstall the application on the Sapphire Site Controller GemPro board and to Gemstall the application on all Ruby terminals. Questions? If you have any questions while upgrading, the Verifone Customer Support Center is available for assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Saving Sales Data and Settings Saving Data Use these steps to begin any onsite upgrade: 1. Prior to the conversion, all report periods should be closed and all transactions must be settled, or they will be lost. ******************************************************* A te On Version Numbers NOTE: This version does NOT support Ruby-Only sites. BUYPAK may be either a Ruby/Sapphire suite with SMS or a Sapphire/ Topaz suite with SMS. The Sapphire GemPro takes the same version number of BUYPAK , which is also the version number of the Sapphire NewPro. Backdoor Password Several functions and parameters require the entry of a backdoor password. These functions and parameters should only be used with the assistance of the Verifone Technical Support Center, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Gemcom Version For Sapphire sites, this application requires Gemcom or higher, available on the new Verifone Premier Web connection (go to Petro Downloads > Sapphire > Sapphire Utilities). Gemcom or higher is recommended for non- Sapphire sites as well. Gemcom is supported on the platforms and applications to the degree of offering the same data that it has always offered, but no new datasets or features. If a backoffice system provider wants access to the data and totals resulting from new features, they must use the PDK for such access. Gilbarco Sites Must Set PAM Jumper Gilbarco sites must enable the PAM (Pump Access Module) for buffer price mode by making the CPU board jumper JP7=A. 67
Gilbarco Sites Need Enhanced PAM For Grade Restriction Feature Gilbarco sites need PAM 1000 version or higher to support the grade restriction feature. POP Discount Enhancements and Limitations Alternate POP Lowest Price Level Configuration When using the Alternate POP Discount Configuration, only sites with Tokheim dispensers may use either the value 1 or the value 2 for the parameter POP Lowest Price Lvl (1=CA 2=CR) in Fuel Manager > Site Parameters > Fuel Site Parameters. Dresser/Wayne and Gilbarco sites must enter the value 1 when configuring this parameter. Bennett DCTs Support Standard POP Configuration Bennett DCTs with Horizon 1 (firmware v6.27) or Horizon 2 (firmware v2.15) dispensers now support POP Discount with Standard Configuration only. To support POP Discount, the dispensers must be equipped with a Bennett 515 interface box (firmware v5.07). Dresser/Wayne HyperPIB Sites May Use Standard POP Dresser/Wayne sites equipped with HyperPIB or higher may use the Standard Configuration for POP Discount. Sites without HyperPIB or higher must use the Alternate Configuration for POP Discount. te that if the Standard Configuration is used, and if dual cash/credit pricing is enabled, the POP Discount will be given on both cash and credit sales. Gilbarco Sites Must Set PAM Jumper As noted above, Gilbarco sites must enable the PAM (Pump Access Module) for buffer price mode by making the CPU board jumper JP7=A. This applies to POP as well as other sites. Gilbarco With PAM May Use Standard Configuration Gilbarco sites with PAM version or higher may now use the Standard Configuration for POP Discount. The Alternate Configuration remains available for all sites including Gilbarco. POP Fueling Limit POP Discounts awarded for purchasing specified PLUs or departments, such as car washes, may now be limited by cutting off fueling in a POP-eligible transaction at a pre-configured dollar amount. Only the fuel purchase, and not any other merchandise or service, such as a car wash, counts towards the dollar fueling limit. 68
POP Membership Requirement POP Discounts have been enhanced to allow a site to require that customers wanting any available POP Discount must use a Membership Card. This option is available for any site set up in the Basic+Membership mode. It can be used to restrict any of the five non-membership discount types for the benefit of those presenting Membership Cards only. Setting the new parameter Membership Card Required? to Y when setting up any of the 10 possible POP Discount transactions in Manager > POP Transaction File will mean that a Membership Card must be presented to receive a POP Discount under a Transaction Definition calling for: Purchase of a specific PLU Use of a specific MOP Use of a specific credit card Purchase of at least a minimum amount Purchase of at least a minimum amount from a department Standard Configuration: 10 Prices Per Fuel Grade POP Discount sites using the Standard Configuration may now set up to 10 price definitions for each grade of fuel offered for a POP Discount. Previously, only two price definitions could be set up for each grade of fuel. Proprietary Cards On Secondary Network: Mannatec or CFN, and Fuelman/GASCARD The Ruby application s secondary network Proprietary card interface for Mannatec or CFN cards has been upgraded to Proprietary Card Protocol version 2.0 from version 1.0. Sites using Proprietary cards with protocol version 1.0 must get their ACU (Authorization Control Unit) upgraded by the Proprietary card provider to version 2.0 for the Ruby terminal to interface properly with the Proprietary card network and the Verifone Tranz 380 terminal. Fuelman/ GASCARD is another Proprietary card that may use a secondary network, but Fuelman/GASCARD transactions may now be made within the Ruby application and do not need a secondary network. They must not be set up on both a secondary network and the host network used by the Ruby system. When Proprietary cards are used with a secondary network, a Ruby card is required. In addition, sites may elect to accept only one secondary network Proprietary card. This means that either Mannatec, CFN, or Fuelman/GASCARD may run on a secondary network with Fuelman/GASCARD not supported on the Ruby terminal. Alternatively, this means that either Mannatec or CFN may run on a secondary network while Fuelman/GASCARD runs as part of the Ruby application. NOTE: Fuelman/GASCARD must not be set up both as a secondary network using an ACU, and as a Ruby supported option. Fuelman/GASCARD is set up as a Ruby supported option when the PDL (Parameter DownLoad) 69
from the host network authorizes acceptance of Fuelman/GASCARD in Network Mgr > Configuration > Credit Card Configuration. Therefore, if the site has Fuelman/GASCARD set up as a secondary network using an ACU, the site manager must make sure that the host network knows NOT to include Fuelman/GASCARD in its PDL. NOTE: When the Proprietary card interface with ACU version 2.0 is connected through a MUX (port MUtipleXer), the MUX must be reconfigured to allow both numeric and non-numeric values, both of which are necessary for interfacing with version 2.0. Switch number 7 of switch banks SWA and SWB must both be set to ON in the configuration. See VASC Field Service Bulletin and for details on reconfiguring the MUX. Ruby, Sapphire, and Topaz in These Release tes Changes in categories such as New Features, Enhancements, and Resolutions may be separated into such sections Ruby and Sapphire, Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, Topaz, and Sapphire. For instance, a Resolution designated Ruby and Sapphire would apply to both Ruby sites and Sapphire sites, while a Resolution designated Sapphire would apply only to Sapphire sites. NOTE: Failing to perform this procedure correctly could damage your system. This software upgrade is for Sapphire or Sapphire/Topaz sites only. Documentation on the CPU-6 upgrade may be found on the Verifone Premier Web Connection at Petro Downloads > Sapphire > Sapphire and SMS: Other Documentation > Installation Guide in the PDF file CPU-6 Installation for Sapphire Base 160. Sapphire LOGIN Switch In UP Position The LOGIN switch on the front of the Sapphire Site Controller must be placed in the UP position and left that way at all times. The only exceptions are when upgrading or when a Verifone representative asks that the switch be put in the DOWN position for diagnostic purposes. V950 TM PC Replacing Dell PC Overview HPV-20 sites may now be equipped with the Verifone V950 PC, which is a replacement for the Dell PC. The operation of the V950 PC and the Dell PC is 70
similar, with the V950 having an advanced operating system (XPE). Just like the Dell PC, the V950 PC is needed for Sapphire sites and can work with or without the Sapphire Site Controller to provide on-site maintenance operations such as and Upgrade. The Upgrade menu updates the software on the POS to a later version that was previously downloaded onto the V950 PC. In addition, the V950 system allows the Verifone Technical Support Center to remotely conduct diagnostics while the POS is operating. Terminology System The system and software enabled by either the V950 PC or the Dell PC is still referred to as HPV-20. PC Name Since either PC may be used to run HPV-20, the term V950/Dell PC is used to refer to the PC running the HPV-20 system. VASC Field Service Bulletins and Release tes Check for VASC Field Service Bulletins issued after the publication date listed on the cover of these Release tes for updated information. Peripheral devices supported, especially fuel hardware peripherals, may change after the release of software. If there is a conflict between what is stated in these Release tes and what is stated in a VASC Field Service Bulletin with a later publication date, the information in the Bulletin should be considered correct. Installation of nonsupported peripherals may void the Verifone warranty. Documentation Brief guides to various features, which used to appear in the Release tes, may now be downloaded from the new Verifone Premier Web connection at Petro Downloads > Features Reference: POP Discount Features Reference (Base 153): Includes a description of the POP Discount feature and detailed instructions on configuring the POP Discount feature. Check items in this Important Information section and recent ASC Field Service Bulletins for complete fuel hardware restrictions. HPV-20 Release tes Features Reference: Includes instructions on installing and using HPV-20. Steps for using HPV-20 for upgrades are also included. Sapphire Release tes Features Reference: Includes a description of Sapphire s features, cabling instructions, minimum requirements, and instructions for using Sapphire to upgrade applications. Sapphire and SMS: Other Documentation Comprehensive guides along with various utilities can be found on the new Verifone Premier Web connection (at Petro Downloads > Sapphire > Sapphire and SMS: Other Documentation). Among the publications are: 71
Sapphire Installation Guide: A guide to installing the Sapphire system. Sapphire Software Installation Guide: A guide to installing the Sapphire software. Sapphire Router Guides Sapphire Interface Guides SMS Installation and Sapphire Management Suite guides by base level Topaz Archive Among other documents in the Topaz archive on the new Verifone Premier Web connection at Petro Downloads > Topaz > Topaz: Other Documentation is the Topaz Installation Guide: A guide to installing Topaz workstations. Weights and Measures Support for cash and credit pricing at the dispenser requires explicit cash and credit selections on the dispenser. This is in compliance with the Weights and Measures Guidelines for Selectable Unit Price Capability, section G-S.5.1. tice: This Ruby software supports a POP Discount feature, which allows a point-of-purchase discount on fuel based on the purchase meeting certain pre-defined transaction criteria. It is possible that the Weights and Measures department in your state may consider this POP Discount feature, when used in a post-pay scenario, to be in violation of state regulations. YOUR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE POP DISCOUNT FEATURE IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
