Having a standardised and legible system of recording integrated, multi-disciplinary patient notes along with the ability to easily refer back to and review those notes through the read notes feature improves patient safety and saves hours of clinical time. Importantly, being able to use the system in relation to the continuum of care - from pre-admission, throughout the patient stay and discharge linking with GP systems. We are able to reduce patient risk through being able to electronically document risk assessments on admission. We can then put the necessary interventions in place to address issues relating to:- manual handling, skin integrity, mobility and patient falls all leading to better patient outcomes... The idea of using a Clinical System was to have staff proximal to the patient, to plan the delivery of care in consultation with the patient as well as to collect the pre-admission and patient history so that we could use the information time and time again without reentry of the same data.
