2 Pay/Salary Increases The President of Miami University, David Hodge, just announced on May 11, 2012 because of the many efforts that we (individually and together) have made to improve efficiency, to better manage health care costs, to make planned reductions and to increase revenue, we are thus far on target to meet most of our financial goals set by the Strategic Task Force. These changes have not been easy, but they are critical to our future and they could not have been achieved without a lot of hard work across all of our campuses. As a result of this success, I am pleased to announce that the University will be able to provide an additional 0.5 percent salary increment pool ($1.1 million) that will be focused on exceptional merit and equity issues. This pool is in addition to the 2 percent general merit pool that was announced earlier this semester.

4 Resolution to Establish an Academic Division on the Regional Campuses WHEREAS, in 2009, Miami s Regional Campus Committee (RCC) stated that the University re-envision the Regional Campus as a location of baccalaureate degrees and baccalaureate completion degrees designed to assist the economic and cultural development of the region. Degrees offered on the Regional Campus should be distinct in name and requirements from those on the Oxford campus. They should include degrees that serve a broader, place-bound population and address state initiatives from the Chancellor and Ohio Board of Regents ; and WHEREAS, the RCC s vision was guided in part by the determination of the Ohio Board of Regents to distinguish the mission of the regional campuses throughout the University System of Ohio and to build them into institutional entities that more purposefully serve the people of the state of Ohio, specifically the Ohioans who live near the regional campuses and have the most direct access to them ; and WHEREAS, the RCC report adds that rather than viewing the regional campuses as satellites in orbit whose main purpose is to feed students to the Oxford campus, the committee envisions the regional campuses in a new administrative and academic configuration with a much more dynamic relationship to the Oxford campus as well as to the region ; and
5 Job Enrichment Program Awards (all points based) Bonus = $500 (50 pts.) (can be earned every 6 months) Promotion in Place 1 = $.50/hr. (150 pts.) Promotion in Place 2 = $.60/hr. (300 pts.) Promotion in Place 3 = $.70/hr. (450 pts.) PIP can be earned every 18 months Promotion In Place increases will appear as premium pay on pay stub. Advanced Component = $500 Bonus (one per calendar year after completing PIP 1, 2, & 3) The Miami University Job Enrichment Program, along with services and resources provided, is intended to help classified staff become more aware of their strengths and talents. Staff are encouraged to develop their talents in ways that link to specific career opportunities that are meaningful and satisfying, while fulfilling the mission and needs of the University. The Miami University Job Enrichment Program offers a range of opportunities for classified staff to advance in job knowledge and skill level.
6 CPAC Responsibilities in The Classified Personnel Advisory Committee (CPAC) is established for the purpose of advising the President, Vice Presidents, and Human Resources on matters of interest and concern to classified staff members in the context of the whole university community. The comments, opinions, and/or proposals of CPAC will reflect the consensus of appointed classified staff members from all classified staff employment groups. In like manner, university administration may bring matters of interest or concern to CPAC. University Senate - Senate meets on a regular basis and is the primary governance body for the university. The Board of Trustees delegates to Senate the responsibility of debating university issues and voting on policies and actions such as curriculum, educational programs/courses, faculty welfare, etc. Benefits Committee - Recommendations for changes to health care coverage for the upcoming fiscal year are ready for submission to the President s Executive Committee. The committee closely observes legislative changes taking place in health care. Senate Bill 5 may prohibit Miami from paying more than 85% of the total cost of health care. It also may reduce the number of sick days allowed each year. Campus Planning Committee - The function of the Campus Planning Committee is to represent the University Senate in the process of planning and maintaining the physical plant of the institution in order to ensure that the environment and facilities are appropriate to the University s mission. The Committee reviews Campus Planning Project Requests which are required for any alteration in the exterior campus environment and for major alterations to campus building interiors. Fiscal Priorities & Budget Planning - The Fiscal Priorities Budget Committee is a Senate committee. The committee is composed of (5) faculty members, (1) classified staff member, (1) unclassified staff member, (1) undergraduate student, (1) graduate student and two exofficios. This committee reports directly back to Senate with recommendations on important issues. CPAC elects one of its members to serve on this committee preferably throughout the tenure of the CPAC member. Regional Campuses One member from each regional campus serves on the CPAC committee. These members report and share information back and forth between main and regional campuses to all classified employees.
7 CPAC Accomplishments Holiday Project - Once again the community and Miami University came together to serve foster children in Butler and Preble Counties. Through many great projects, $10, was raised to provide holiday gifts for a total of 170 children; including $3,000 donated by Meijer. Free Tax Assistance for Miami University Employees, Students and Community Members. Share Your Stuff - CPAC generated this idea that is scheduled to be implemented soon. After noticing the sharing of office supplies that was occurring on the SATSS listserv we thought what a great idea to create an avenue specifically for sharing office supplies within the various departments on campus. The plan is to have a link at the top of the Buyway system that can be accessed prior to making a purchase. The link would allow you to view the various items departments have and will also allow you to post items your department might want to give away. CPAC Survey - At the end of last year in December 2011, CPAC initiated a survey to all classified employees. Out of approximately 1,500 Miami classified employees we received 30 responses. We took those 30 responses very seriously. CPAC is working on the issues that were most widely mentioned in an effort to update our goals and work on our mission.
