1 Classroom Setup Guide Sage MAS 90 and 200 Core Training Version 10.0 You can teach the Introduction to Sage MAS 90 and 200, Sage MAS 90 and 200 for System Administrators, Setting Up General Ledger, Processing Your General Ledger, Setting Up Accounts Payable, Processing Your Accounts Payable, Setting Up Accounts Receivable, and Processing Your Accounts Receivable curriculum individually or as part of the four day Sage MAS 90 and 200 Core Applications Training class. You can teach the Setting Up Payroll and Processing Your Payroll curriculum on the fifth day as part of the Sage MAS 90 and 200 Core Applications Training class. FRx Overview The FRx Overview is a PowerPoint presentation and is not intended as a separate class. Present the FRx Overview in conjunction with the Setting Up General Ledger class when taught stand-alone or as part of the Sage MAS 90 and 200 Core Applications Training class. In your training manual, the FRx Demo tab is located after Processing your General Ledger. The students can refer to Appendix C in Setting up General Ledger for a summary of the PowerPoint presentation. References to the Product References to the product in the trainer course curriculum and the student course curriculum are referring to Sage MAS 90 and 200. Select Classroom Setup from the menu and follow the provided instructions. PowerPoint Presentations are available for the Introduction to Sage MAS 90 and 200, Sage MAS 90 and 200 for System Administrators, and FRx Overview curriculum. The case study and presentation versions correspond to the curriculum versions, not the software versions. Note: If you are not teaching Payroll as part of the Core Applications training class, there is no need to install Payroll. If teaching Payroll as part of the Core Applications training class, refer to the Setting Up Payroll and Processing your Payroll Classroom Setup Guides for setup instructions. 3 Setup Instructions Follow the guidelines listed below to set up the student and trainer s workstation. Workstations should run Sage MAS 90 on their local drives Company codes SB1 and SB2 (Superior Bicycles, Inc.) are used for in-class activities Company codes GL1, LAB, and LA2 are used for labs Sage MAS 90 should have security enabled When creating the SB2 company, enter the following address information: Superior Bicycles, Inc., 56 Technology, Irvine, CA, The phone number is Create a Supervisor role with access to all tasks, security events, and module options Define the RMD user with a name of Robin and a user code of RMD. Assign the Supervisor role created for all companies to this user. Passwords are not required The accounting date of 4/30/10 is used for in-class activities and labs. Define this date as the accounting date for all modules. All workstations should have access to a laser printer Define the printer as the default printer on each workstation Printing in Class Many in-class activities include steps to print reports. The trainer should indicate what output method the students should use for these activities. By setting up a user logon with supervisory rights, students can preview and update the registers and Daily Transaction Register. If the students are printing to an actual printer during class, review the steps for changing the company name in Company Maintenance to their name at the beginning of the class. 4 Sales Tax Setup Special setup is required for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure sales tax information is defined correctly for activities. 6 ZIP Code Cross Reference Cross reference ZIP code with the CA OR sales tax schedule. This automatically assign the sales tax schedule when completing the activity for the Customer Maintenance topic in the Processing Your Accounts Receivable curriculum. Refreshing Data for Subsequent Classes The procedures for refreshing data depend on the course you are teaching. Individual Classes Refresh the case study data before each class, if taught individually. You should refresh the following folders with clean data before teaching the next class: The MAS_SB1, MAS_SB2, MAS_GL1, MAS_LAB, and MAS_LA2 folders in the \MAS90 directory SB1, SB2, GL1, LAB, and LA2 Companies SB1 and LAB are used for all classes pertaining to the set up of a module and for the Introduction to Sage MAS 90 and 200 and the Sage MAS 90 and 200 for System Administrators curriculum. SB2 and LA2 are used for all classes pertaining to processing information in a module. GL1 is used for the lab in the Setting Up General Ledger curriculum. Sales Tax Information The sales tax information defined for sales tax codes and tax schedules is stored in the \MAS90\SOA directory. You can only refresh this directory by deleting and reinstalling the software. This removes tax codes and tax schedules entered as part of the in-class activities.
