1 P a g e 1 St. Labre Indian School Graduate School Scholarship Fund for St. Labre High School Graduates Eligibility, Policies and Procedures St. Labre Indian School Educational Association is committed to providing access to higher education for qualified Native Americans. This Scholarship Fund has been established to assist qualified St. Labre High School graduates in pursuing graduate degrees. 1. Application deadlines are as follows: I. General Information a. May 15 Fall Semester/Fall Quarter b. November 1 Spring Semester/Winter Quarter c. February 1 Spring Quarter d. May 1 Summer 2. Awards are made for one term. Continuing eligibility is based on the academic performance criteria determined by the school of graduate or doctorate studies. 3. Awards will be determined by a Committee who will meet shortly after each deadline. II. Eligibility 1. Applicants must be graduates of St. Labre High School. 2. Applicants must be enrolled members of a recognized Indian Tribe or be at least ¼ Indian blood and be able to verify Native American descent. 3. Applicants must be accepted into an approved Graduate or Doctorate Program and are required to carry a minimum of 9 credits per semester, six credits per quarter, or two courses per summer session. III. Procedure 1. Submission of Application accompanied by the following: Letter of Acceptance Graduate Transcripts (if applicable) Academic Budget Verification of Degree of Indian Blood Undergraduate Transcript Letter of Request Plan of Study signed by Advisor
2 P a g e 2 2. Application and attachments must be submitted by the appropriate deadline. 3. Continuing Eligibility : a. Scholarship recipients must provide copies of transcripts as soon as they are issued at the completion of each term. b. Recipients must earn grades of B or higher in all courses taken. Recipients receiving a C grade or lower in any course will be placed on probation for the next semester or session. Once a student receives a C or lower grade in any course taken during the next semester/session or any subsequent semester, that student s eligibility shall be permanently terminated. c. Extenuating circumstances will be considered by the Committee. d. Graduate School scholarships are provided for a maximum for two years for Master s studies and three years for Doctorate studies. IV. Awards 1. St. Labre Graduate School Scholarships will be awarded as follows: a. Fall/Spring Semesters (9+ credits) $2, b. Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters (6+ credits) $1, Awards will be distributed directly to student upon receipt of the student s transcript and class schedule. 3. Applications will be reviewed by a Committee. 4. The number of awards given each year may be limited by available funds and qualified applicants. In such cases, scholarships will be awarded based on the date of submission of complete application packet.
