3 Dr. Chrisian Bisanga, BHR Clinic Group FUE DONOR MANAGEMENT Assesing donor safe zone and areas of thinning represent one of the most important tasks planning a procedure. FUE offers a wider donor area in comparison to FUT. Random extraction and not overharvesting are very important things to consider. HAIR TRANSPLANT IN BLACK PATIENTS Color, wave, density and caliber in black patients do show remarkably differences to white patients. Also fashion (short hair cut) does point out that FUE is highly suitable as technique in black patients. Risk of scars and keloids may be a rare but important topic in this patient groups to consider 2. BEARD HAIR OR BODY HAIR Caliber and density vary from beard, chest, arms to legs. Also the anagen/telogen ratio is different. Beard hair does show more favorable ratio of anagen vs. telogen hairs then e.g. legs. Also pubic hairs may be of interest. 4 Milena Lardi TRICOPIGMENTATION The Tricopigmentation is a camouflage technique performed according to the specific client initial situation, facial features and expectations. The technique consist in injecting microscopic deposits of pigment in the scalp tissue to optically reduce the appearance of common hair loss, diffuse thinning or scar coverage. This method consist in simulating the hair bulb in order to achieve a perfect camouflage. A specific dot technique and the natural ash color of the pigment will conceal all areas with hair deficit or general hair loss by simulating the hair bulb in the most natural way. Reza Azar VERÄNDERUNGEN DER HAARFOLIKEL IN FOLGE EINER HAARTRANSPLANTATION Im Rahmen einer Studie im Zentrum für moderne Haartransplantation wurden 6 Monate zuvor transplantierte Haarfollikel extrahiert und anschließend histomorphometrisch und immunhistologisch untersucht. Die Proben stammten von zwei Patienten, bei denen Kopf-, Bart- und Brusthaarfollikel in die Kopfhaut bzw. Barthaarfollikel in die Augenbrauen transplantiert worden waren. Die Ergebnisse zeigten eine Miniaturisierung der transplantierten Haarfollikel auf. Die Follikellänge war um 20% und die Größe der dermalen Papille (DP) war um ca. 50% kleiner als im Vergleich zur jeweiligen Kontrollgruppe (native Kopf-, Bartoder Brusthaarfollikel). Gleichzeitig war eine starke Infiltrierung von T- und B-Lymphozyten sowie von Makrophagen in transplantierten Follikeln ersichtlich. Zusammenfassend führte die Transplantation von Haarfollikeln mittels FUE in beiden Patientenfällen zu morphologischen Veränderungen. Veröffentlicht im International Journal of Trichology Giovanni Schiavone PLATELET-RICH PLASMA FOR ANDROGENETIC ALOPECIA Basic science and research findings have pointed out the role of platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs) to be biologically active in many key regenerative steps, such as the development of angiogenesis, the formation of the protein matrix, and the enhancement of cell proliferation. A pilot study (Dermatol Surg 2014;40: ) indicates that preliminary evidence that the biological background and rationale for this treatment may be translated into some degree of clinical advantage for patients with androgenetic alopecia of mild to moderate clinical severity. This may prompt other groups to perform studies on this procedure, possibly using a control group and ideally using the constraints of a well-designed randomized controlled clinical trial

Ken Kobayashi and colleagues note that propolis is a resin-like material that honeybees use to seal small gaps in their hives. Not only does it work as a physical barrier, but it also contains active compounds that fight fungal and bacterial invasions. People from ancient times had noticed propolis special properties and used it to treat tumors, inflammation and wounds. More recently, research has shown that the substance promotes the growth of certain cells involved in hair growth though no one had yet tested whether that in turn would result in new locks. Practical workshop comparing manual and motorized FUE A very first pivotal comparative surgery has been done by Reza Azar and Dr. Peter Hajduk to define methods of comparison. A lot of experience has been gained how to proceed with such a comparison to get valid results. It may be part of a dedicated clinical workshop to do the next steps in developing a reliable protocol.
