18 Engage Health Care Hospital, medical associations, health clinics, health insurers: Encourage local hospitals and all health care professionals to provide every patient with his/her 4 health measures plus offer discussion about the 4 healthy behaviors if desired by patient. Encourage healthcare professionals to provide education, counseling and referrals to community resources to help individuals with their four healthy behaviors. Offer products to health care purchasers that include incentives to practice the 4 healthy behaviors. Promote the recording of BMI in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) for children. 18
19 Work with Employers/Businesses Provide guidance for the development of worksite environments that encourage and support healthy eating, physical activity and adoption of the 4x4 Plan. Develop worksite policies to create opportunities for employees to be more physically active. Develop nutrition standards for worksites, creating a default choice for healthy foods. Encourage employers to assess their worksites by using Michigan s Designing Health Environments at Work (DHEW) assessment and action planning tool. Develop recognition and award system for employers that implement the 4 x 4 Plan. 19
20 Education System Implement the Michigan Nutrition Standards in all schools across the state. Improve physical education, nutrition and health education in schools. Encourage updated nutrition standards for all early learning and care programs. Encourage all school systems to adopt healthy food offerings, healthy behaviors, physical activity programs, and discuss with students the meaning of health as a personal core goal. State Departments of Education and Community Health will continue to work with schools on various initiatives. 20
21 Community Partners Promote and implement the public awareness campaign. Promote the 4 x 4 Tool and Plan. Collaborate and support healthy eating recommendations. Collaborate and support physical activity recommendations. 21

Parent Teacher Associations, Principals Association. Weight Management Programs (Weight Watchers, Medical Weight Loss Clinic, hospital/physician based clinics, On Target Living, MyNutratek, other national weight loss Michigan-based franchises). Physical Activity Programs (YMCA). Michigan universities, colleges, professional sports teams. 22
23 Corporate/Trade Partners Wholesale & Retail: Promote 4 x 4 Plan adoption with consistent messaging, prominently displayed. Promote foods with less salt, sugar, unhealthy fats. Restaurant Associations: Encourage MI restaurants to post menus online along with nutritional content and information. Encourage restaurants to include calorie information on their menus as well as social media coding whenever possible to assist customers with smart tools to obtain other nutrition information. Encourage restaurants to offer bite size desserts. Include references to the 4 x 4 Plan on menus. Work with university researchers to offer appropriate content of sugar, sodium and fats in foods. 23
