6 RP 101: Vehicle-to-Office Data Communications Standard Industry's first attempt to identify operating data that can be sent bi-directionally between a vehicle and a fleet's back office business applications. Brings efficiencies to the trucking industry, since it completely puts aside any proprietary communication protocol and allows for wireless communication via radio frequency, infrared, satellite, cellular, or WiFi between a trucking company s back office and its fleet.
7 RP 202: Windows Communication Application Program Interface Defines a communication standard between the on-vehicle databus and PC application software programs running under the Windows family of operating systems. Personal computers today do not have communication ports that are compatible with those found on heavy trucks. RP 202 brings order to this chaos by allowing most applications to connect through any adapter. Requirements built into the software portion of the 202 standard accomplished a similar function.
8 RP 402: Model Motor Carrier/ Broker Agreement... establishes a model agreement between carrier and brokers and specifies the terms and conditions under which the Broker will engage the Carrier to perform motor contract carriage and related services for Shippers.
9 RP 403: Model Truckload Motor Carrier/Shipper Agreement... similar document was developed governing the contractual relationship between the carrier and the shipper. Its purpose is to serve as a starting point for negotiations and its use by carriers as is the case with all of our Recommended Practices is purely voluntary.
10 RP 501: Trailer Tracking Interface Standard... offers a framework for exchanging trailer tracking system data and instructions between trailer tracking systems and dispatch systems without having to write separate, distinct interfaces between dispatch systems and trailer tracking technology providers.
11 RP 502: Guidelines for Wireless Data Connectivity at Fixed Points of Presence... offers a framework to ensure that fleet vehicles and drivers can establish connectivity between on-board systems and off-board wireless data access points at local fixed points of presence (i.e., truck stops).
12 Related Industry Activity.. working with ANSI X12 Committee to adjust EDI Transaction Set 214 Shipment Status message. Reason codes added to 214 to allow for un-ready freight.
