3 About this Guide Introduction Use this guide to help you navigate the details and knowledge in this Knowledge Access offer. This guide will help you: Prepare for your visits to the Session Border Controller Implementation and Maintenance floor. Identify the different learning objects and locate the content by rooms. Prepare for instructor-facilitated practice lab workshops where applicable. 4 Offering Description Knowledge Access: Session Border Controller Implementation and Maintenance Offering Number: Over all Duration: Job Function: 5U00090E 30 hours Day-to-day implementation and maintenance responsibilities Synopsis: Avaya Learning's Virtual Campus empowers learners anywhere, anytime with complete, interactive training solutions unlocking the full value of Avaya technology. Prepare to learn and practice skills while sharing information in our socially immersive environment. This Knowledge Access is designed for individuals responsible for the implementation, support, and troubleshooting of Session Border Controlers and those attempting to earn the ACSS - Avaya Session Border Controller Enterprise credential. Enrolled leaners have 12 months unlimited access to all content referenced below. Leaners are notified by when learning materials are refreshed or new content is added during their enrollment. Please note Certification Exams delivered by authorized Pearson Vue testing centers and the allowed testing time are NOT included in this Knowledge Access. Session Border Controller Implementation and Support Avaya Learning Virtual Campus Overview Guide How to Enroll Guide Avaya Learning System Requirements Recommended knowledge: Basic knowledge of telephony and Voice over IP (VOIP) technology Leaners access all Knowledge Access materials in the Avaya Learning Virtual Campus through the Avaya Learning Center>My Learning>Current Courses. The theoretical content is presented as self-directed learning objects. The implementation and maintenance theory of Session Border Controller is covered. Learners will also see overviews and demonstrations. To get the most out of the theoretical content and the Quiz, Avaya Learning recommends learners note any questions that may arise and bring those questions to the Shared Instructor Office. Finally, the Practice Lab Workshop will provide system support professionals with the skills they need to practice for supporting the implementation of Multimedia on AACC. Learners perform this practical part in the ALE virtual labs with mentor (instructor) support. During the Practice Lab Workshop learners will complete the following lab exercises: Session Border Controller Commission and Configure SIP Trunking Test SIP Trunking functionality Configure the Trace tool using GUI Configure the Trace tool using CLI Configure the SBC for Mobile Workspace Test the Mobile Workspace configuration Configure the SBC for Presence and Instant Messaging(IM) Test the Presence and IM configuration Page 5
6 Prerequisite Knowledge for the Practice Lab Workshop Learners should possess basic telephony knowledge, VoIP experience and be familiar with the knowledge from the Self-directed theory floor. Knowledge and Skills Objectives Upon completion of Session Border Controller Implementation and Maintenance, you should be able to: Describe SBC functionality in SIP telephony configurations. Describe where and how the Session Border Controller is used in Avaya configs. Describe security threats common to all VoIP systems. Describe direct VoIP media security threats. Give examples of VoIP media attacks. Describe security solutions that the SBC provides. Describe the SBC Evolution and software compatibility. Describe where and how the SBC is used with Avaya configurations. Differentiate the Session Border Controller offers and the configurations in which they are deployed. List the required pre-installation tasks necessary for installing the Standalone Session Border Controller. Describe the hardware and configuration for a new standalone SBCE installation. Perform the tasks necessary for installing the SBC. Perform the tasks necessary for configuring the SBC. List the required pre-installation tasks necessary for installing the HA SBC. Describe the hardware and configuration for a High Availability SBCE installation. Perform the tasks necessary for installing and configuring the SBCs. Perform the tasks necessary for installing and configuring the EMS. Perform the tasks necessary for configuring the servers for High Availability. Avaya Learning recommends consuming the learning topics in the following order: - Planning the standalone implementation - Installing the standalone SBC - Standalone cabling - Portwell - Standalone cabling - Dell The information in this room will enable you to: - List the required pre-installation tasks necessary for installing the standalone SBC. - Describe the hardware and configuration for a new standalone SBCE installation. - Perform the tasks necessary for installing the SBC. - Perform the tasks necessary for configuring the SBC. Additionally, there is an interactive cabling tool to test your knowledge of HA cabling.
