Jimeno, Ph.D. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE New Mexico State University Alamogordo Alamogordo, NM President, May 2007 present; Provide leadership for the comprehensive community college in all areas including facilities, academics, student services, fiscal operations and foundation. Some key accomplishments include: Secured $5 million general obligation bond from the local community and over $2.5 million capital outlay monies from the state legislature. Received over $12 million in WIA, TANF, Carl Perkins, Title V and HSI STEM grants; Department of Energy and TAACCT grants have been submitted. Led significant campus enrollment growth--headcount increased by over 100% and FTE increased by over 80%. Listed in Community College Week as the second fastestgrowing community college (for our size) in the nation. Implemented campus recycling program, sustainability task force, and campus sustainability plan. Received LEED Gold certification for $4.5 million Allied Health addition and $3 million Phase I Advanced Technology Center. In partnership with the city of Alamogordo, installed first smart crosswalk in New Mexico. Negotiated contracts to provide deli, beverage and rental car services. In a two-year time frame, worked closely with the NMSU Alamogordo Foundation Board to increase endowment from $60,000 to $600,000. Implemented partnership with Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Foundation who supplemented funding the Director of Nursing hire and provided other support needed for the nursing programs. Developed and implemented three-year plan to bring faculty salaries to national mediums while increasing the contingency fund balance to appropriate benchmarks. Created budget line item for faculty and staff to present and to attend professional development opportunities. Implemented online distance delivery fee and student technology fee to assist with maintaining a full-time instructional technologist and keeping student technology up-todate. Implemented an Office of Student Retention and Success implemented retention plan and currently developing completion plan. After completing an assessment of progress of the strategic plan and a comprehensive SWOTS analysis, created a five-year strategic plan for FY , A Vision in Progress. Implemented e2campus text messaging system and updated campus security plan in partnership with local officials. Implemented new student and staff ID system, pilot-tested second life technologies, summer four-day work week and administrative merger of Academic Support and Adult Basic Education Centers. Currently pilot-testing faculty advising. Work closely with Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range, and Fort Bliss to increase participation of base personnel in educational programs; during August 2009, named a Military-Friendly College by GI Jobs Magazine. 2 Implemented several recognition programs for faculty and staff including In Celebration of the Academy. Implemented Alumni and Friends cruise/travel opportunities. Charged Vice President for Academic Affairs and Division Heads with leading the development of a comprehensive assessment of online courses and two-year course schedule. Designated co-coordinators and provided three-year funding for HLC accreditation visit scheduled for Montana State University - Northern Havre, MT Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor of Business ; Articulated a vision and provided leadership for all academic programs (graduate, baccalaureate, associate, and certificate). Served as the chief executive officer of the institution when the Chancellor was not available. Some key accomplishments included: Secured funding in excess of $2 million for equipment for the new Applied Technology building and co-authored proposal that transferred a $2 million building in Lewistown to Northern to house the nursing program. Implemented Northern s Online University. Faculty were trained to facilitate online learning and the use of WebCT. A fully supported online BSN degree (along with proper student services) was implemented spring Redirected the nursing program by developing a short-term and long-range plan to meet the recommendations of an external evaluator. Hired a new Director of Nursing, reorganized advisory board, and began an extensive faculty development program and public relations campaign. Results were continuing national and state accreditation and NCLEX pass rates of over 90%. Received approval from the Board of Regents for a BS degree in Diesel Technology, major and minors in mathematics (teaching and non-teaching), AAS degrees in Electrical Technology and Plumbing Technology, certificate degrees in Welding Technology and Carpentry Technology, Water Quality and majors (teaching and non-teaching) for history and political science were submitted. Assisted faculty with reviewing a 25-year old general education core; new core was implemented academic year Led development of the self-study continuing accreditation report for Northwest Accreditation. After well-documented student concerns and decreasing program enrollments, reorganized and provided new leadership and direction for all graduate programs. Implemented Provost s Council to improve communication between all key administrators on the campus. Outcomes included a technology plan for campus computer lab facilities, redesign of the catalog and implementation of a student handbook, shared computer network storage, and a plan for reviewing and approving off-campus programs and sites. Worked collaboratively with Academic (Faculty) Senate to establish a five-year academic strategic plan. Collaborated with deans and faculty to reduce course redundancy and over scheduling of classes with low enrollments. Personnel budgets were brought under the review of the Provost. Page 2 of 5 pages
3 Implemented an enrollment management team that reviewed institutional data, declining demographics, marketing, and recruitment strategies. Implemented professional development workshops as part of faculty orientation, monthly faculty forums to highlight the scholarship activity of the faculty, and oncampus professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Worked closely with the Vice Chancellor of Fiscal and Student Affairs to initiate a budget line item for faculty to present at state, regional, and national conferences. Implemented In Celebration of the Academy to recognize educational attainment and promotions of faculty. Developed stronger relationships with off-campus sites by implementing student forums at all sites to receive feedback on academic programs and student services; required administrators (including self) to visit off-campus sites at least once a semester. Served on a four-campus steering committee to plan and implement the Luminas interface for Banner. The University of Montana Western Dillon, Montana Dean, School of Education, Business and Technology, ; Served as the chief academic officer of the School s programs that graduated 80 percent of Western s graduates. Some key accomplishments included: Facilitated a variety of faculty planning meetings and retreats to prepare curricula for a new block scheduling model, Experience One (one-class-at-a-time). Prepared (within a nine-month time frame) with the Education Department faculty and staff, the institutional report and all supporting documentation leading to successful joint accreditation reviews by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Montana Board of Public Education. Received approval from the Board of Regents for an online BS degree in Early Childhood Education, and AAS degrees in Equine and Education Studies. Worked closely with the Executive Director of the Foundation to cultivate donation of facilities and expertise of personnel at LaCense, Montana, in natural horsemanship. Developed partnership with Montana Tech of The University of Montana (Tech) to provide educator licensure for students receiving content degrees in math or science at Tech. Reorganized the professional development school partnership with Butte Public Schools for sustainability and economic feasibility. Developed plan (including time lines and budget) to pursue ACBSP accreditation. Created an active advisory board for the Education Department. Facilitated a variety strategic planning sessions and faculty forums that would merge two distinct departments (Education and Business) into one professional school; collaboratively created a five-year strategic plan for the same. Associate Professor and Department Chair of Business, ; Taught courses in business information systems, systems analysis and design, strategic management, business policies, human resource management, advanced spreadsheets, multimedia, introduction to computers, and microcomputer applications. Secured grant funding for the Southwest Montana Tech Prep Consortium--a consortium of thirty high schools, three alternative education institutions, and two postsecondary institutions; served as Project Director for the same. Presented at several referred and non-referred conferences, predominately in the areas of computer applications, integrating cultural concepts into the business curriculum, and internationalizing the curriculum. Researched and published in the areas of telecommunications and integrating cultural concepts into the business curriculum. Served as Faculty Athletic Representative and Title IX Coordinator; authored gender equity plan for athletics. Completed terminal degree while teaching full-time and being a single parent of two children. Council for the International Exchange of Scholars Washington, D.C. Fulbright Lecturer, ; Selected by the Council of International Scholars to lecture at The College of The Bahamas (COB), Nassau, Bahamas.
