Outcome List of research priorities for short (1-2 yrs), medium (2-5 yrs) and long term (> 5 yrs)
5 Some ideas for animal production research What are the main shortcomings that R&I should aim to tackle in the short, medium and long term? Ideas from new Action Plan on organic production: e.g. research Modifiez into le animal style du nutrition: titre protein and micronutrients supply, feed efficiency, breeding, availability of livestock material and aquaculture juveniles Ideas from TP Organics strategic research agenda: e.g. appropriate and robust livestock systems, breeding robust animal breeds. Is more research required or simply greater access to research results?

10 ROUND 1: What are the key problems to be addressed by research and innovation regarding production in dairy, beef & sheep; pigs & poultry; aquaculture and for common issues Duration: 20 min group discussion 4 mixed groups discussing problems of ALL 3 sectors + common Modifiez issues le style du titre Every group has a host who is writing 2 main problems identified for each sector on coloured cards: GREEN CARDS DAIRY, BEEF & SHEEP YELLOW CARDS PIGS & POULTRY BLUE CARDS AQUACULTURE PINK CARDS COMMON/OTHER ISSUES Harvesting: collection of cards just before lunch break, presenting results (hosts) and prioritisation immediately after lunch

12 ROUND 2: For priority problems identified per sector are the priorities for research in the short, medium and long term? Duration: 2 x 20 min group discussion 3 sectoral groups + 1 group for common issues discussing needed Modifiez le style du titre research/actions for 2 main problems identified Every table has a host who is collecting ideas on flipchart (separately from each identified problem) You can freely choose a group for first 20 min discussion, and then another group for second 20 min discussion Table hosts will remain to the table for whole 2 x 20 min session Harvesting: table hosts will present results to all groups (no more than 2 minutes per group)
