This Customer Information Letter (CIL) indicates the policy to be applied when one of these units is found faulty on aircraft during the warranty period and out of the warranty period. 2 1. Consumable or non-serialized items These items are not covered by standard warranty and must not be returned to the repair centre (unless on specific request). Customers are requested to directly send a chargeable P/O for replacement to their dedicated distribution centre (see Appendix 1). Note: Any unit sent to the Thales Avionics repair centers will be scrapped at Customers expenses. 3 2. Non Repairable/Beyond Economical Repair Units Customers are requested not to send the unit to the Thales Avionics repair centers. A. Unit under warranty: Customers must only send the Removal Report Form, as per Appendix 2, attached to the Free of charge purchase order. - Based upon Removal Report Form duly filled in, Thales Avionics will determine the warranty status. o If the warranty is accepted, a unit will be delivered to the Customers as replacement under the order number defined in the Removal Report Form. Acknowledgement with lead-time will be sent to the Customers. o If the warranty is denied, the Customers will be informed and the procedure for unit out of warranty will be applicable. B. Unit out of warranty: Customers are requested to directly send a chargeable Purchase Order for unit replacement to their distribution centre. Note: Any unit sent to the Thales Avionics repair centers will be scrapped at Customers expenses. 4 3. Non-Repairable Units other than those covered in A) and B) A. Unit under warranty: Customers are requested to send the unit to the Thales Avionics repair centers. - If the warranty is accepted: o A unit will be delivered to the Customer as replacement under the repair order number. o Returned unit will be scrapped at Thales Avionics expenses. - If the warranty is denied, Thales Avionics will inform the Customers and the procedure for unit out of warranty will be applicable. B. Unit out of warranty: Customers are requested to directly send a Purchase Order for unit replacement to their distribution centre. Note: Any out of warranty unit sent to Thales Avionics repair centers will be scrapped at Customers expenses.
