2 United Educators (UE) is expanding its online resources to make it even easier for you and others at your campus to get the information you need to manage specific risks. UE Online Courses Education-specific Each course is based on UE claims experience with the 1,200 schools, colleges, and universities we cover. We ve designed these tools to help you navigate the unique risks associated with educational institutions from business affairs, such as contracting, to student affairs, such as short-term international programs. Engaging UE s online courses are designed to be taken in an hour or less. Multiple quizzes and tools ensure that the user not only gains new information, but interacts while learning to ensure retention of new concepts. Most courses feature a final quiz to help the learner understand to what extent he or she has successfully mastered the information. Ongoing review throughout the course provides real-time feedback regarding learning. Efficient Online learning provides an easy way for you to deliver training to students, staff, and faculty. Users have expressed positive feedback regarding the ability to take courses on their own schedule, in their preferred location (at home or at their campus), and at their own pace. All UE members have access to our range of online courses at no cost making them one of the most cost-effective training vehicles available! 2 UE Online Courses

3 UE Online Courses: Higher Ed Accessing Online Courses Staff, faculty, and students at member institutions can quickly and easily access the online courses offered by UE: Access through the UE website. If a staff or faculty member has access to the UE website, he or she can simply login and access the online courses through the Learn@UE section of Access the courses directly. UE online courses are available to your entire campus community. Learners can go directly to elearning.ue.org or and register with an institution code to take a course. websupport@ue.org or call (301) to learn more and to obtain a faculty/staff or student code for your institution. Reporting To help UE members take their training programs a step further, campus administrators have the ability to identify individuals that have completed a UE online course. Our Institution Course Completion Reports are available on UE s learning management system. To enable report access for your institution, please send an to websupport@ue.org. Only users that you authorize will be able to see your institution s reports. 3

4 UE Online Courses For Higher Education Institutions Contracting Contracting Fundamentals Poor contracting practices such as failure to use a written contract to document key terms, omitting review of a written agreement before signature, or signing without authority can create needless liability. This course helps employees at colleges and universities avoid contract disputes and problems. It is dedicated to promoting good contracting practices at your institution. Threat assessment teams can take steps to assist persons in trouble and prevent actual or attempted violence that threatens campus safety. It takes a closer look at what constitutes an effective threat assessment team and touches on important topics such as team composition, reporting, intervention, and documentation. This course will help students driving on institution business: Identify and mitigate risks associated with driving Learn specific strategies for handling potential accidents and other emergency situations Lasting Choices: Protecting Our Campus From Sexual Assault This course responds to the need identified by the Office of Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education for higher education administrators to train students on preventing and reporting sexual assault. Harassment/ Respect Among Peers Students who feel that they are part of a respectful learning environment are more engaged at school, and have a better self-concept and physical well-being. Harassment by peers, on the other hand, can interfere with students learning negatively affecting the capability to pay attention in class, concentrate on studies, or worse. UE recognizes the importance of these issues and has developed this course to respond to an area of growing concern. Recognize the prevalence of dating violence Identify the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships, the forms of dating abuse, and the warning signs of an abusive relationship Learn what to do if involved in an unhealthy or abusive relationship Develop strategies for supporting friends in an unhealthy or abusive relationship 11
