2 LATEST NEWS In France, summer 2007 marks no spectacular difference with Most of the trends were reconducted this year. British Press did break its records, both with newspapers and magazines, the pressure will remain later in autumn with the RUGBY WORLD CUP. Dutch tourists were still in big numbers and did contribute to develop the sales of press coming from NETHERLANDS. We saw more german people than the previous year, but regretfully they spent less cash in the press than before. In regards with sales per family, we have to mention generally speaking an erosion of some old traditional titles; this is hopefully compensated by tremendous sales development of: - Celebrities titles : +10% in copies - Fashion titles : +3% in copies - Interiors and decoration : +10% in copies - Car titles : +3% in copies We don t believe that we did reach the peak of our potential, so we are still investing in the development of our activity. On a corporate level NMPP has mobilized its forces in a strategic plan called CHALLENGE 2010; the main positive factors for the foreign press are dedicated to the trade: - Opening of new outlets, objective: 5000 until the end of the plan. - Optimisation of the French titles (magazines) on the shelves of the newsagent - Limitation of excessive quantities delivered to the trade. - Increase of the margin of the newsagents in proportion of their volume of activity. Around Easter, we have launched 5 sites in foreign languages of all these sites are dedicated to your purchasers. Technically it is not at all difficult to manage that, this link appears on the publisher website with direct access to the titles concerned. In a few weeks, we will also give the cover of issues on sale at time of consulting. Specifically at the IMPORT department, we will concentrate on two topics: - Re-implantation for the winter period We work now on the retail level, with an optimum of copy management really on the ground. - We are working to develop the transmission of the scan of barcodes of foreign magazines whether UPC or FAN, this will help us to develop our distribution and facilitate the handling of the wholesalers (at the moment we give manually this information to Hyper and Supermarket but not on an industrial level).
