Coordination and recommendations to Staff and Board re. compliance issues to achieve Museum accreditation. Creation of grant funding program. Includes: Creation of over 40 Policy and Procedure Statements for the Museum in early 2014, as well as Initial Collections Management Policy Overview for Board of Directors; Review of all aspects of Museum compliance including environmental systems and conservation recommendations; updated drafting of a Museum Code of Ethics specific to CIM requirements; updates in recommendations for on-going grant writing and qualifications; and other major policy paper drafts. Current archaeometric project: Principal investigator for the VEN 632, 641 updates project, which incorporates archaeometric studies on artifacts previously collected from these sites. First proposed 2010 to Chumash Indian Museum; presented as a Brief presentation at 2011 SCA conference. See accompanying PDF for a more detailed abstract. Phases one has been completed with poster presentations at SCA, and Phase Two, detailed testing of artifact sourcing via PXRF and glossmeters has been proposed. Gary Boyd, MA, RPA, Collaborator created a DEM map of the area focusing on Interior Trade Trails based on new data. Gary Boyd, MA, RPA, Dr. Andrew Kinkella, Ph. D. and Don Morris, RPA are collaborators (Curation/Consultation re. Island and Coastal Chumash Late Period sites). Educational Background M.A Anthropology/Archaeology. California State University at Northridge, with all courses completed for the Public Archaeology Option GPA, Graduation with Distinction. Thesis topic combined analyses of regional power dynamics of Late Period villages on Isla Cedros southeast coast with
2 paleo-environmental syntheses. A complete midden analysis was performed for the site of Campo Quintero, Cedros Island. Geographic location of study was coastal area and Channel Islands of Baja California, focusing on a regional study of Late Period villages, considering the Maritime specialist society of Isla Cedros; associated paleo-environmental proxies were synthesized for the temporal period and area. A review of the ethnographic literature on this indigenous group was included. Recent Awards: Personal achievement Award received at the Honor s Graduation Convocation. Working on a site at Point Mugu area; included training in all aspects of CRM laws and field procedures/testing on this material; field excavation, archaeological field notes, graphing of site, UTM and other field concepts. Chumash Indian Museum January Archaeological Intern In the field: surface survey program on area immediately adjoining VEN 632 in area near Saddle Peak- report to Dawn Mena, Director. Served as adjunct to Educational Director in internship capacity: provided background research on all educational programs offered at Museum to Dawn Mena, (former Director); created data base for Chumash Native plants exhibit proposed for 2009; presented multiple presentations on Chumash lifeways and subsistence strategies to Director; began Museum Library accession and culling program for Chumash community; created provisional criteria for Inter-Museum loan program; produced extensive recommendations for Updates to Museum exhibit plans. Moorpark College Lab Projects February to July 2007 Bone processing project. Providing lab assistance to Dr. Colleen Delaney-Rivera for an adjunct project regarding experimental degeneration of bone tissue. Assisted with basic photographs and tasks for preparation of the bone tissue in the lab Archaeological Lab analyses with Dr. Matthew DesLauriers. Lab class focused on lithics analysis, and creation of midden composition data bank for the Late Period site of Campo Quintero, Cedros Island, Baja California. Also some phyto analysis with lab partners from the same site. Pacific Asia Museum August to December 2005 Volunteer Curatorial Assistant Program Awards Provided assistance to UCLA Student Curator Annie Leung with review of lithographs, silk screens and other accessioned items requiring repair and re-evaluation of matting.
