Accelerated Pathways, Nursing Education Transfer Compact (NETC), Flexible Options (Employer Practices), Nurse of the Future Competency Integration (NOFNCC ) : Practice settings, Academic settings, Faculty: Opportunities for Retiring Faculty, Recruitment/Development Opportunities, Scope of APRN Practice, Scope of RN Practice, Communications, Data Collection and Philanthropy Tell Us About Your AC s Goals and Progress in Pillar Areas: Include as many goals as your AC has identified for each pillar. For each goal, provide significant progress made during the reporting period. Education 1. AC Education Goal A: Accelerated Pathways o Progression Models o Draft of a Pathways Brochure developed as a resource that identifies progression models (LPN-BSN +, RN-BSN+, second bachelor degree-bsn+), promotes diversity and the value of a completing a BSN+ degree. o Submitted and article to Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses (MARN) spring newsletter entitled Time to go back to school. o Nursing Education Transfer Compact (NETC)
2 o A statewide compact developed to facilitate seamless transfer of credits and accelerated progression to the BSN degree across (15) two year associate degree nursing programs and the (8) four year baccalaureate programs o NETC approved for implementation by the Board of Higher Education 1/29/2014 o Implementation plans being developed o Flexible Options o Employer Survey results analyzed and recommendations developed o Academic Practice Partnership best practices identified o Planning Whitepaper outlining results and recommendations AC Education Goal B: Competency Base Curriculum o Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies o MA Nursing Core Competency Toolkit completed o First round review by experts in process o Draft LPN Nursing Core Competencies AC Education Goal C: Increase Faculty o Retirement Opportunities o Developing new models for retired/retiring faculty o Recruitment and Development o Developing a Centralized Clinical Faculty Database o Identifying best practices- Joint Faculty Appointments o Prepared an On-Line Catalog reference list of advanced degree programs/certificates as a faculty development resource. o Researching best practices in Mentoring Programs to support new/diverse faculty o Developed outline for a Faculty Whitepaper 2. Yes No If yes, briefly explain: Many of the two and four year college programs have partnerships that encourage and ease transition in academic progression. Several models exist including LPN-BSN+, RN-BSN+, second bachelor degree- BSN-RN+ developed within academic/practice partnerships and the Massachusetts Community Colleges Executive Office supports the MAAC/APIN initiatives. AC Leadership Goal A: o Education programs focused on leadership[ o ONL is accepting candidates for upcoming Spring class for the ONL Leadership Academy and the upcoming Leadership Seminar o Presentations of the IOM report, MA Action Coalition and APIN initiatives to regional CNO meetings begun in January and will continue through spring 2. Has your AC implemented new selected and proven successful leadership program to prepare nurses to lead change to advance health? AC Interprofessional Goal A: o Integration of Interprofessional Education competencies o Communication/collaboration with PIN 6 IPEC grant team o Crosswalk of IPEC to the current NOFNCC 2. Does your AC have a strategy on Interprofessional Care? Yes No Diversity 1. AC Diversity Goal A: o Accelerated pathways that promote diversity o LPN-BSN program developed in a collaboration of (2) public 4 year colleges and (3) regional vocational programs. o Recently approved NETC will offer accelerated progression for associate degree nurses. o Developed the MA LPN Nursing Core Competencies 2. Does your AC have a diversity Plan? Yes No Collected current diversity data and developed a plan and strategies to promote diversity in leadership, education and practice Data 1. AC Data Goal A: o Strategy for data collection and distribution o Examination of current real time labor market information to compare to historical supply data o Performed analysis of IPEDs graduation data for all MA BSN programs to access capacity needed to achieve academic progression goals o Examined SAT data to determine level of interest in nursing among high school students, looking specifically at diversity in the pipeline o Analyzed recently released 2012 MA BORN data (minimum data set, collected by survey at time of biennial re-licensure) o Engaged with the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (UMDI) to provide program evaluation, data analysis and technical assistance services.
