1 WILL KAUL Vice president, transmission Will Kaul is vice president of the transmission division at Great River Energy, an electric generation & transmission cooperative serving approximately two thirds of the geography of Minnesota. Great River Energy s transmission system is made up of 102 transmission substations and more 4,500 miles of transmission line, including the unique 435 mile HVDC transmission line that stretches from the company s flagship power plant, Coal Creek Station in Underwood, North Dakota, to a converter station in Delano, Minnesota. Kaul is a founder of CapX2020 and has served as its chair since its formation in CapX2020 is a collaboration of eleven utilities that have jointly planned for the expansion of the high voltage transmission grid serving a large region in the Upper Midwest. CapX2020 has been successful in permitting its first group of four projects estimated at nearly $2 billion. He is also a director and the immediate past president of WIRES, a Washington, D.C. based working group that promotes investment in the transmission grid. In addition, Kaul was elected in July to serve as one of three transmission owner/developer representatives on the Stakeholder Steering Committee of the Eastern Interconnection Planning Collaborative. Kaul has provided testimony to Congress, FERC, state legislatures and regulatory agencies and has presented at numerous national conferences. Kaul has been employed by Great River Energy and one of its predecessor companies for over 30 years. Prior to his employment by the cooperative, Kaul worked at the Minnesota Legislature and for the Minnesota State Planning Agency. Kaul holds a bachelor s degree in economics from the University of Minnesota.

CASSIDY DIRECTOR, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS PRACTICE GROUP Paul Cassidy joined the legislative practice at Leonard, Street and Deinard in He leads our Government Relations team at the Minnesota State Capitol. Paul has more than 14 years of legislative and regulatory experience in a broad range of areas including energy, telecommunications, insurance, banking, transportation, healthcare and general business climate issues. Paul served from 1989 to 1991 as the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner of the Department of Commerce under the administration of Governor Rudy Perpich. Bob has been named by both Chambers USA and Minnesota Lawyer as one of Minnesota s leading construction attorneys. Bob is former chair of Leonard, Street and Deinard s Construction Law practice area. Bob is an active arbitrator and mediator. He has been appointed to the American Arbitration Association s National Panel of Construction Arbitrators, Large Complex Case Panel. He is a qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota Rules of Court. Bob frequently speaks before attorneys and trade groups on all aspects of construction law. LINDEMANN SHAREHOLDER Steve Lindemann is the chair of Leonard, Street and Deinard s Specialty Litigation department, which includes the Construction, Products Liability, Labor and Employment and Real Estate Litigation practice groups. Steve also heads up the firm s Climate Change practice group. He has served as the lead lawyer for Fortune 100 companies who have selected Leonard, Street and Deinard as their national construction counsel. He has represented contractor and design professional clients in trials, arbitrations and mediations involving design and construction defects, delays, disruption, energy efficiency guarantees, mechanic s liens, payment bonds, claims for extra work and catastrophic fire loss. He counsels construction and energy clients on a broad range of issues from contract negotiation to dispute avoidance. In addition to handling numerous construction cases throughout the United States, Steve has taught courses for the Associated General Contractors of Minnesota and has given seminars for other construction trade associations. MOHEBAN SHAREHOLDER Keith Moheban enjoys a diverse business litigation practice that includes intellectual property, environmental law, professional negligence, construction-related disputes and regulatory matters. His clients include utilities, hospitals, builders, engineers, architects, real estate brokers, manufacturers, inventors, developers, non-for-profit entities and other businesses. These clients range from Fortune 500 companies to emerging entrepreneurs. Keith provides experienced advocacy in court, and also utilizes that experience to counsel clients in drafting contracts and taking other prudent actions to stay out of court. Keith has extensive courtroom experience, having tried cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, as well as litigating numerous arbitrations and administrative proceedings. Prior to joining the firm Keith was an assistant attorney general with the State of Minnesota, representing the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Keith clerked for Chief Judge Donald P. Steve s experience includes a recent contract dispute with more than $700 million in claims. In construction disputes he has represented general contractors, owners, a steel erector, a pre-cast concrete fabricator, and design professionals in mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, Steven practiced as a trial attorney at Dorsey & Whitney LLP for almost four years. He has been a CLE presenter concerning the interplay of bankruptcy and lien laws, and has successful first-chair experience before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Minnesota District Courts and the American Arbitration Association. 10 TIMOTHY R. RING SHAREHOLDER Tim Ring has built a thriving practice around banking, corporate finance and corporate restructuring. Currently an outside general counsel for manufacturing companies, banks and investment fund companies, Tim guides his clients through operational and legal risk, regulatory matters, corporate and board-level best practices, and litigation management. Tim s transactional experience encompasses complex debt and equity finance; depository, regulatory and lending transactions for financial institutions; mergers and acquisitions; and ESOP-related advising, planning and leveraging. 11 RYAN STAI ASSOCIATE Ryan is a senior associate in the firm s Construction litigation practice. He has gained substantial experience litigating large, complex construction cases. Ryan recently was part of the three-attorney litigation team that arbitrated a $90 million claim against the world s largest manufacturer of combustion gas turbines used in combined-cycle power plants. The arbitration hearing lasted nine weeks and involved 20 witnesses (six of whom were experts), 800 exhibits, and over 500,000 pages of discovery documents. Ryan was involved in all aspects of the case, including discovery, dispositive motions, the hearing, and post-hearing briefing and arguments. He worked closely with general counsel, corporate and plant management, and plant employees to uncover the factual background of the case, locate key documents, coordinate discovery responses and prepare for testifying at the hearing. Ryan has been involved in a number of litigated cases for a Fortune 100 company regarding energy-efficient technology and performance-guarantee contracts. He has worked on discovery matters, various motions, legal research for motions and trial, trial preparation and post-trial briefing. (612) Construction Ryan has also worked on a myriad of construction matters, including mediations, arbitrations, and trials regarding design issues, defects, mechanic s liens, delays, payment and performance bonds, and changes. He has represented both general contractors and subcontractors in several multiparty lawsuits, including one arbitration with over $10 million in claims and 48 parties. He has also assisted in contract drafting and negotiating for a firm client that specializes in construction projects on tribal lands. Relying on his past experience as a law clerk at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Ryan has researched and written appellate briefs for seven appeals in four years.
