3 Informatics Institute An event for informaticists to innovate, interact, and improve the use of information technology in healthcare. The first annual I-squared meeting is for interprofessional teams of health-system based practitioners and administrators who focus on the use of information technology in healthcare. The purpose of the Institute is to be the premier educational event for informatacists interested in improving quality and patient care utilizing technology. I-squared offers 4 days of interactive education and invaluable networking that will equip and inspire attendees to immediately implement what is learned into their practice. Underwood, MBA, FHIMSS Senior Director Siemens Medical Solutions A nationally recognized expert in the field of healthcare informatics, Ms. Underwood directs Siemens outreach and advocacy activities in emerging market initiatives, specifically those related to government activities in healthcare information technology (HIT). Daniel Z. Sands, MD, MPH Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine Harvard Medical School Dr. Danny Sands is passionate about healthcare transformation, non-visit based care, collaboration in healthcare, and participatory medicine. He was awarded by the HealthLeaders Magazine s as one of 20 People Who Make Healthcare Better. Ken Majkowski, Pharm.D Vice President Surescripts, LLC Ken Majkowski has over 30 years of healthcare experience. He has experience as a clinical pharmacist in E-Health, Managed Care, Transplant Services, Pharmacy Mail Services, Medical Devices and Drug Delivery Systems, Home Infusion Therapy and Hospital and Retail Pharmacy. Brent Fox, PharmD, PhD Pharmacy Manager, Oncology Georgia Regents Health System Brent is currently an Associate Professor of Health Outcomes Research and Policy in Auburn University s Harrison School of Pharmacy. His teaching, research, and outreach programs are characterized by two broad domains: pharmacy informatics education and the use of health information technology (HIT) in pharmacy practice. Karl Gumpper, RPh, BCPS Team Leader for Pharmacy Informatics Boston Children s Hospital Karl is currently working on his Masters in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University, and has practiced at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Children s National Medical. Karl was the first Director of the Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology for ASHP was responsible for facilitating the active participation and involvement of pharmacists involved in informatics, technology, and automation. Leslie Reuss Mackowiak, RPh, MS Vanderbilt University Medical Center Leslie is currently the Portfolio Director for IT Clinical Systems at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has responsibility for planning and managing all inpatient and outpatient Electronic Medical Record systems.
6 Holly Lilly, PharmD Pharmacist Informaticist and Consultant Pharmacist, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Dr. Lilly is a health-systems pharmacist with over 15 years of clinical experience integrated with systems expertise. Professional background includes 5 years as Pharmacy Systems Coordinator at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida and 4 years as a Senior Product Analyst for HCA IT&S Corporate offices in Nashville, Tennessee. Specialty focuses include: oncology pharmacy systems revenue cycle and clinical research support, CPOE, BCMA pharmacy automation and eprescribing. Samm Anderegg, PharmD, BCPS Pharmacy Manager, Oncology Georgia Regents Health System Samm serves as the chair of the Pharmacist Collaborative Value Set Committee and is a member of the Professional Service Documentation and Coding Workgroup of the Pharmacy Collaborative. Both of these groups are part of the Pharmacy HIT Collaborative, a coalition of pharmacy organizations and their members working to assure the pharmacists role of providing patient-care services are integrated into the national HIT interoperable framework. As health care providers are required to provide value-based care to increasing numbers of patients, healthcare professionals including pharmacists will need to leverage these technologies for communication, collaboration, and care while also encouraging patients to manage themselves and connect with other patients online. 8 Part 2 will be a presentation from HIMSS Board of Directors Chair where the state of Meaningful Use (MU) requirements and insights into Stage 3 as related to medication management will be discussed. National growth in e-prescribing from 2008 through 2012 increased over 40 percent, with individual states increasing adoption up to 70 percent. What s next for eprescribing? What are the challenges to come and what obstacles do we face in our goal towards convergent practice models and comprehensive pharmaceutical care?
