2 Overview Requirements for successful completion This guide helps you to study for the HP-UX 11iv3 System Administration (HP0-P24) exam. You can benefit from this guide when you are attempting to achieve the HP ATP HP-UX 11i v3 System Administration certification. Why take the exam? By passing this exam, you meet one of the requirements of the HP ATP HP-UX 11i v3 System Administration certification. The other requirement is the HP ATP Cloud Administrator prerequisite certification. HP-ATP HP-UX 11iv3 System Administration certification This certification confirms that you can: Successfully perform basic installation, configuration, administration, and support of an HP-UX operating system solution. Recognize and explain fundamental HP-UX operating system and network technologies and architectures. Recognize and describe HP-UX operating environments. Describe HP-UX features and how they support business solutions. Plan and design an HP-UX installation. Install, upgrade and configure HP-UX OS components. Perform basic HP-UX administration tasks and operational tasks using the command line, TUI, and GUI tools. Automate administrative tasks through scripting (shell scripting). Perform basic troubleshooting of HP-UX operating system services, drivers, utilities, and server hardware. To achieve the HP ATP HP-UX 11i v3 System Administration certification, you must: Pass the HP-UX 11iv3 System Administration (HP0-P24) exam, The sections below provide more details. 2
3 Who should take this exam? There is one path available for obtaining this certification. Path 1 This path is designed for new candidates and for candidates who hold the CSA HP-UX 11iv3 certification. These candidates must pass the HP0-P24 exam (HP-UX 11i v3 System Administration). Table 1: HP ATP - HP-UX 11i v3 System Administration requirements based on current achievement Path 1 All candidates Proctored exam HP-UX 11iv3System Administration (HP0-P24) X Most successful candidates will have a minimum of one year of real-world experience as a system administrator. At least one to three years of experience working in a Unix or Linux environment is recommended. Successful candidates also prepare for the test in a variety of ways. This guide describes some of these ways and provides references to materials for further preparation. NOTE Although anyone can take the exam, you must pass it to achieve this certification. Who should not take this exam? Candidates who do not have the recommended system administration, Unix, or Linus experience should not take this exam How to study for the exam The HP-UX 11iv3 System Administration (HP0-P24) exam is a certification exam and tests not only course content but practical experience and knowledge based on real-world situations, as well as prerequisite knowledge. Successful candidates will demonstrate their competency by analyzing scenarios and applying their knowledge and skills to reach logical and correct solutions. The HP-UX 11iv3 System Administration (HP0-P24) exam tests you on topics that are covered in: The HP-UX 11iv3 System and Network Administration I course (5-day ILT, course ID ) The additional reference materials and recommended training (listed in the Refer to other materials section later in this document) Your ability to apply the gained skills and knowledge to real-world situations. You are highly encouraged to attend the training, particularly because it offers instructor-led interactive lectures, demonstrations, practical activities, hands-on labs using live or remote equipment, and real-world situations, all providing and enforcing an effective learning environment. It is recommended for all candidates, but is neither required nor does it guarantee that you will pass the exam. It is also expected that you will study on your own and draw on your real-world experience. Register for this course in The Learning Center which is the HP Learning Management System for HP customers and partners. You will need to have an HP Learner ID to register for a class. Please obtain this ID and then register for classes at least one week in advance. Costs and scheduling vary according to region. 3

During the exam, participants can make specific comments about the items (i.e., accuracy, appropriateness to audience, etc.) HP welcomes these comments as part of our continuous improvement process. Tips for taking HP exams Rather than emphasize simple memorization, HP exams attempt to assess whether you have the knowledge and skills that an HP-UX System Administrator requires on the job. Therefore, many test items present a scenario, which outlines a particular environment or problem. You may also need to use exhibits to complete the test items successfully. The exam includes: Multiple choice questions that have a single correct response Multiple choice questions that have two or more correct responses Matching During the exam, you will be able to move from question to question, skip questions, andr change your answers. However, once you submit your answers for the exam, you will not be able to return to the exam to review questions or change your answers. Before you answer a question, take the time to read the entire question and all of the options carefully. If the question indicates that it features an exhibit, study the exhibit and reread the question. Make sure to select the answer that correctly responds to the question that is asked not simply an answer that includes some correct information. If the question asks for more than one answer, remember to select each correct answer. You do not receive partial credit for a partially correct answer. Register To register for this exam, visit the PearsonVUE website at: You will need an HP Learner ID and a PearsonVUE ID. Visit to obtain access to The Learning Center. 13
