1 HP ExpertONE Exam Preparation Guide HP0-M96: Asset Manager 9 Implementation Exam This guide is to set expectations about the context of the certification exam and to help candidates prepare. Recommended training to prepare for this exam can be found at The Learning Center. It is important to note that although training is recommended for exam preparation, successful completion of the training alone does not guarantee that you will pass the exam. In addition to training, exam items are based on knowledge gained from onthe-job experience and application as well as other supplemental reference material that may be specified in this guide. HP certification The HP ExpertONE community is a network of qualified HP channel partners, customers, and employees. These individuals have passed certification exams that validate skills and competencies for credentials offered through the HP ExpertONE program. Audience This exam is for technical implementers who plan, install, configure, tune, and integrate Asset Manager for optimal results within an organization. Examples of job roles include: HP Software consultant HP Software technical trainer HP Software technical partner Minimum qualifications To pass this exam, you should have at least six months of field experience in Asset Manager implementations. Exams are based on an assumed level of industry-standard knowledge that may be gained from the training, hands-on experience, or other pre-requisite events. You should also be knowledgeable about: IT Service Management Database management Relevant certifications After passing this exam, your achievement may be applied toward more than one certification. Exam details The following are details about this exam: Number of items: 85 Item types: A combination of multiple choice and performance-based Exam time: 3 hours

2 Passing score: 70% Reference material: No on-line or hard copy reference material will be allowed at the testing site. Comments on the exam This is a performance-based test. During the exam, participants will be provided with an Asset Manager 9 environment. No external materials and references will be allowed. Exam content The following testing objectives represent the specific areas of content covered in the exam. Use this outline to guide your study and to check your readiness for the exam. The exam measures your understanding of these areas. Explain and recognize Asset Manager architecture 10% This section focuses on topics related to the Asset Manager architecture such as supported RDBMS-es, database creation, proposed GUIs and GUI-usage, database options, tier identification and SQL and Oracle deadlock Perform pre-implementation tasks 10% This section focuses on topics related to planning before Asset Manager implementation, such as design an implementation plan, including backup plan, and change management configuration plan, clarify roles, locate documentation and support resources, identify customer data, obtain the appropriate licenses,access to the client s system and data map, identify processes to be implemented, and obtain project success criterion Install, configure, setup and maintain Asset Manager 35% On installation and setup, this section focuses on installing Asset Manager on Oracle or SQL and on the Web Client, Web tier and service, formatting data, installing validity scripts, the Reports server, setting up the business home pages, Application Designer, Wizards, Workflows, Scripts, Password security, messaging, and single sign-on On Configuration, this section focuses on Autopass and AM License, Web tier and services with the Application server, reporting, AQL queries, views and screen sets, Also included are best practices for data loading and aligning Asset Manager to the client s business needs. 2

3 Tune and optimize the Asset Manager solution 10% Tuning and optimization focuses on determining efficiency of calculated fields, index fields and configured lists, basic SQL operation, Asset Manager query, history tracking, denormalization of fields, optimizing the Web Client Server performance, archiving, regular system and business review checks, automating administrative tasks, workflow cleanup and scaling Asset Manager Troubleshoot and repair Asset Manager 10% This section focuses on common Asset Manager troubleshooting such as detecting missing null identifiers, the Diagnostic logs, troubleshooting the Web Client, reset and restarting the Workflow, testing actions and script and tuning and data load optimization Operating the Asset Manager solution 10% This section focuses on tasks to operate the Asset Manager solution such as operations within the modules, Web user experience, scripting skills, query skills, GoTo search command, writing AQL statements, create a Portfolio item, setup the Assets table, navigate the AM interface, use query records, differentiate between internal and standard requests, review data, determine fields based on a given requirement, use entitlement counters, perform stock room and contract management, data alignment for system/business reports, fat client optimization, help the client think outside the box to meet their immediate needs Integrations 5% This section focuses on application integration such as the Import module and Connect-It, Web Services, Single Sign-on, Third party integrations, single and multiple load, DCIM and SCAM integration Modules 5% This section focuses on best practice steps for data loading across modules, implementations in combination or in phased approach and business process dependencies Reports 5% This section focuses on Asset Manager reporting such as Software Compliance, Contract Expiration, Total Cost of Ownership, Reconciliation proposals, Assets with High Level of Changes, Models with high level of maintenance, Data accuracy, Chargeback, Inventory compliance, Summarized management, Ad-hoc and System data extracts 3
