2 North Carolina s High School 60% of NCSSM alumni stay in North Carolina and contribute nearly $500 million to the state s economy every year NCSSM has more than 500 alumni caring for patients at all 10 of the top 10 hospitals in North Carolina NCSSM alumni are currently teaching at 15 of the 25 largest N.C. universities NCSSM alumni volunteer more than 140,000 hours in their communities every year. All NCSSM students are North Carolinians, representing all 13 Congressional Districts and nearly every county. Since the UNC Tuition Grant was implemented in 2004, nearly 80% of graduates have attended UNC system schools, up from 55% before the Tuition Grant
