3 1. INTRODUCTION In 2013 Woodside Energy (Myanmar) Pte Ltd entered into a farm-in agreement with MPRL E&P Pte Ltd with respect to A-6. In 2015 Total E&P Myanmar farmed in to A-6. The Joint Venture (JV) structure for A-6 is presented in Table 1-1. Woodside, on behalf of the Joint Venture Participants (JVP), carried out exploratory drilling to meet the work commitments of the Production Sharing Contract (PSC). A-6 is located in the Rakhine Basin in the western offshore area (Figure 1). Prior to this, Woodside undertook a screening assessment documented in a Project Proposal which was submitted to MOECAF in July Shwe-Yee-Htun-1 is located in the Rakhine Basin approximately 54km offshore from the western coast of Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal (Figure 1). The nearest townships are Pathein and Thabaung. The nearest marine park, Diamond Island, is approximately 103km to the south-east. The exploration well is located 7 km from the edge of the continental shelf in a water depth of approximately 2,000m. Drilling operations were conducted from the Deepwater Millennium drillship between November 2015 and January 2016 and have now concluded. Woodside Energy (Myanmar) Pte Ltd (Woodside) has prepared this Environmental Monitoring Report for submission to MOGE and MOECAF in accordance with the Environment and Social Management Plan (ESMP) contained within the IEE. 2. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY Drilling operations were conducted from the Deepwater Millennium drillship in accordance with the Project Description provided in the IEE, between November 2015 and January Operations included a number of support vessels operating primarily out of Singapore and an industry standard exclusion zone of 500m was implemented around the drillship to prevent interactions with vessel traffic. The purpose of the exploration activity was to further investigate the possible presence of hydrocarbons in A-6. 4 3. ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING The Environment and Social Management Plan (ESMP) submitted as part of the IEE was implemented throughout the duration of the drilling activity. Routine monitoring and auditing of environmental performance during the activity was conducted in accordance with the ESMP. The monitoring program confirmed all environmental parameters were within the limits described in the ESMP. No cetaceans were sighted within the 500m exclusion zone for the duration of the activity. 4. ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE During the drilling program, control measures were implemented as described in the IEE to reduce environmental impacts to as low as reasonably practicable. Two minor incidents occurred during the activity, with negligible environmental impact observed or expected. Details of the minor incidents are detailed in Table 4-1. Throughout the activity, there were no accidents or incidents relating to occupational or community health and safety. Table 4-1: Shwe Yee Htun-1 Environmental Incidents Date Incident Description Remediation 14/12/2015 During drilling operations a mixture of water and synthetic based drilling mud containing hydrocarbons was discharged overboard via the centrifuge discharge line. The estimated volume of the mixture lost to sea was approximately 100 litres and calculated to contain less than 80 litres of synthetic based mud. The environment impact resulting from this discharge is likely to be negligible due to the small volume, rapid dilution and dispersion by ocean currents and low toxicity of the synthetic based mud. To prevent further accidental discharges, the centrifuge pump was shut down and inspected to identify the cause of the unplanned discharge. Actions to prevent future occurrences The centrifuge operating procedure has been updated to prevent a recurrence of this incident and learnings have been communicated to relevant crew. 25/12/2015 During washing down of the rig floor, approximately 2 litres of synthetic based mud mixed with seawater was released from a rig floor drain and into moonpool. The environmental impact resulting from this discharge is likely to be negligible due to the remediation actions taken resulting in a very small residual component being lost to sea and the low toxicity of the spilt chemical. To prevent further accidental discharges to the moon pool, the valve was shut and absorbent pads deployed into the moon pool to recover floating hydrocarbon residue. The pads were then retrieved from the moon pool after no further SBM was visible. Changes were engineered and implemented to the index line penetration within the drain system to prevent further accidental discharges from this occurring from this drain valve. The monitoring program confirmed all environmental parameters were within the limits described in the ESMP. No cetaceans were sighted within the 500m exclusion zone for the duration of the activity.
