5 1. Why does the AGAPLESION ELISABETHENSTIFT in Germany recruit nurses from Greece and is it a new project? To guarantee the best possible quality in nursing we need a sufficient number of nurses, therefore we also recruit nurses from abroad. This project started successfully in 2010 and is showing good results, which means that Greek nurses already live and work in Darmstadt. Now the successful project is entering a new stage. 7 3. Do I need to have knowledge of the German language? German language skills are not required because we focus on nursing and not on knowledge of the language. The love of the profession as a nurse and the quality of nursing is important for us. Therefore, during your first two month in Germany, you will be given an intensive German language course lasting 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. After that intensive course you will work in the morning shift in hospital and attend the language course twice a week for 1,5 hours in the afternoon. 8 4. What does a typical day of a nurse in the AGAPLESION ELISABETHENSTIFT look like? You will work in a shift-work system. The morning shift is from 6 am to 2 pm, the late shift is from 1 pm to 9 pm and the night shift from 8:15 pm to 6:45 am. One nurse manages about patients per shift. Every nurse is supported by care unit secretaries and by ward assistants.

9 5. How much is the salary? The monthly gross salary amounts to approx for a 40-hour workweek until the German language qualification B1 is reached. Then the monthly gross salary increases to approx Taxes and social security contributions are deducted from the gross salary at source by the employer. Hence what you actually receive is the net salary. The German system of social insurance provides comprehensive protection. It is based on what is called the principle of solidarity. This means that every insured person makes a contribution towards financing social insurance depending on his financial ability. The benefits are always the same for all insured persons. Social insurance is based on five pillars: health insurance, long-term care insurance, pension insurance, unemployment insurance, accident insurance. The employer and employee each pay half of the total amount. The employee part is deducted from the gross salary. The gross salary is taxed in Germany. The level of taxation depends on the size of the gross salary and it also depends on the family status of the employee. The taxes are deducted automatically from the gross monthly. salary.

10 6. When does the commitment start? The commitment in Germany is going to start on the 1st of May Which documents do I need for my application? Your application should contain your cover letter, your curriculum vitae and your educational documents like your diploma.

11 8. When do I get my employment contract? Immediately after the successful job interview, which will take place in Greece, you will get your work-commitment in greek language. After preparing your employment contract, it will be sent to you. You will receive an employment contract, which is for now limited to one year with the possibility of an extension after the successful language school degree.

12 9. Who does take care of the bureaucratic process? We will give you a list of the documents we need from you. After that we will take care of the whole bureaucratic process from translation through verification to recognition. 10. Where will I be accommodated? Does AGAPLESION help me with the apartment-hunting? AGAPLESION takes over the organization of your accommodation.
