4 Fundamentals of semi-finished plastic products A two-day training course teaches the fundamentals of the materials PE 100 and PE-HD, PP-H, PP-C, U-PVC, C-PVC, PETG, PVDF, E-TFE and E-CTFE. The training course is aimed at providing fundamental skills relating to the processing of semi-finished plastics; it is also suitable as a refresher course in the area of plastics engineering. 5 Fundamentals of tank construction This specialist training course focuses on the design and calculation of round and rectangular all-thermoplastic tanks, the fundamentals of the chemical resistance of plastics including hands-on use of a software application for tank calculations and the SIMCHEM database. The training course is targeted primarily at experienced engineers and technical designers within the plastics processing industry, the focus being on the production or design of tanks and similar containers. It is also aimed at staff working for engineering and planning companies. 6 Fundamentals of piping systems A one-day technical training course covers fundamentals for the design and realisation of waste water piping systems and industrial piping systems. The training course is aimed at engineers, technical designers and fitters of such systems and provides fundamental skills relating to pipeline construction, with a focus on: Engineering and planning offices Piping system and ventilation engineering System planning and construction The training course is also suitable as a refresher course in the area of plastics engineering. 7 Practical course in welding thermoplastics This practical course at our Technology Centre teaches you the basic manual skills of the topic and familiarises you with the processing of our semi-finished products in thermal joining processes. Training is particularly aimed at plastic welders in the following industries: Apparatus and tank construction Environmental engineering Plant construction Pipeline construction Welding methods in practice Hot-gas string bead welding Hot-gas extrusion welding Heated-tool butt welding Practical training is held by highly experienced, qualified experts from SIMONA AG and is based on our application and processing recommendations. The practical course is to be regarded as an initial, product-related training session and does not compete with certified DVS training programmes. 8 Basics of lining and composite construction For tanks in the chemical industry, in which thermoplastics have to be used for corrosion reasons, there are tank dimensions and/or operating conditions where solid thermoplastic design is neither commercially viable nor technically feasible. In this case it is possible to use a composite design, with a chemically resistant thermoplastic inside and a GRP (glass-fibre reinforced plastic) outside for mechani cal strength. There is also the option of lining steel tanks with a thermoplastic, which in terms of the manufacturing process is quite different from composite design. Training is particularly aimed at processors/tank constructors/ planners who wish to undertake work in these areas or would like to gain an overview of the options available in this field of application. 11 Specialist training course: semi-finished plastics for prostheses and orthoses Over the last few decades sheets made from thermoplastic materials have gradually replaced traditional materials used in the production of prostheses and orthoses, e. g. leather, wood and cork. In this context, the quality of the final product is dependent to a large extent on the specific properties of the plastics used for these purposes as well as the actual quality of the sheet materials. As part of a one-day seminar, we will look at the fundamentals of plastics, focusing on their specific properties and processing methods. This seminar is directed at technicians and buyers of thermoplastic sheet materials used in the production of prostheses and orthoses. Knowledge of plastics is not required. Each training course is filled according to the date of incoming registrations. Participation fee The participation fee covers the services outlined in the training course description. For details of special terms and conditions, please feel free to contact a member of the SIMONA Academy. You are kindly requested to remit the participation fee only once you have received the invoice. Cancellations Written cancellations are possible up to two weeks prior to the commence - ment of a training course. The participation fee will be reimbursed, having deducted a 10 % handling charge. Please note that we would also be happy to welcome a replacement attendee to the training course. The participation fee shall be payable in full in the case cancellations received at a later date than that specified above or non-attendance. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule training courses on the grounds of operational require ments and/or if the minimum number of participants is not reached. Liability The SIMONA Academy shall be entitled to cancel the event in the case of force majeure or due to low attendance. Participation fee already remitted shall be reimbursed in full. Beyond this, the registering party shall have no legal claims against the event organiser. The SIMONA Academy shall accept no liability for personal injuries or for any damage to vehicles or other objects.
