2 Great holidays for all For quite some time, it was only members of the upper class who could afford to travel or even go on holiday at all. Today, almost everyone has the opportunity to take off on holiday once or even several times a year. But travelling costs money. Costs are incurred not only before but also during the holiday. To be able to pay for the hotel, hire a car or at the local market, it is important to have the right mix of travel money with you. It depends largely on your travel destination, the length of your stay and your personal needs as to what kind of travel money you ought to take with you while you re on the move. To help you find the right mix, we ve laid out the various travel money options in all their aspects on the following pages. 2

4 Foreign currency cash Handy but not safe When you re on holiday, cash is precisely the type of money you will still need every day. Many goods and services can only be obtained using cash depending on your holiday location. To avoid unnecessary stress on your day of travel, we recommend that you change a certain amount of cash before departure. We can provide you with around 80 different foreign currencies. Advantage Cash is (almost) always accepted everywhere. But: Of all the different types of travel money, cash is the least safe. If it is stolen or lost, it cannot be replaced. 4

5 The Maestro Card Good service at all times The Maestro card is the ideal means of payment, not only for everyday use in your own country, but also when travelling throughout Europe: Make cash-free payments at 7 million sales outlets and withdraw cash at 1 million cash points in Switzerland and Europe. For security reasons, the card is valid only in Europe; however, other continents can be easily activated in NetBanking. Please contact us, if you do not use NetBanking. With your PIN Code, your card is protected from access by unauthorised third parties. In case of loss or theft your card will be replaced within 5 days (in Switzerland or neighboring countries). All cash withdrawals and cash-free payments are charg ed immediately to your bank account. Spending limits can be set on an individual basis (up to a maximum of CHF 10,000 per month). Outside of Europe, a daily limit of maximum CHF will apply for cash withdrawals and shopping. This cannot be changed. Advantage Cash can be withdrawn from cash points. But: Internet purchases or rent a car cannot be paid for with the Maestro Card. 5

6 Visa and MasterCard You can afford it With a credit card, you can obtain goods and services worldwide cash-free. You ll receive a monthly statement, which you can settle either by direct debit or pay-in slip. MasterCard and Visa at a glance: You can obtain goods and services at over 30 million sales outlets worldwide cash-free. You can withdraw cash at more than 2 million cash points worldwide. You can make reservations e.g. hotels, flights rent a car and purchases via the internet. You profit from the additional program surprise. The Gold Card includes further insurance services. Pay small amounts contactless at card terminals with PayPass / Paywave-Signet. There are flexible payment options for goods and services. Should your card be lost or stolen, you can put an immediate stop on it 24 hours a day. Advantage You can pay for almost anything with your credit card worldwide: goods, services, reservations made via the internet, etc. Please do not hesitate to request our credit cards booklet or to contact us for further details. But: Cash withdrawals abroad can incur relatively high charges. 6

7 PrePaid MasterCard or Visa Always remain in control PrePaid MasterCard or Visa are ideal for travelling, as you can determine how much you want to load onto your card. PrePaid MasterCard or Visa at a glance: The maximum loading amount is 10,000 CHF, EUR or USD. You can obtain goods and services at over 30 million sales outlets worldwide cash-free. You can withdraw cash at more than 2 million cash points worldwide. You can make reservations e.g. hotel, flights and purchases via the internet. You pay an annual fee, amounting to 50 CHF, 25 EUR or 25 USD. The charging fee amounts to 1% of the amount or a minimum of CHF 5. The charging fee on the Euro or USD card amounts to a flat-rate of 3 EUR or 3 USD. The card is not directly tied to any bank account. The PrePaid MasterCard or Visa is protected by a PIN number. The card is free of charge for young people between 14 and 18 years of age and for persons in education up to 30 years of age (maximum loading limit: CHF 3,000.00). Advantage You can determine how much to load onto your PrePaid MasterCard or Visa, so that your outgoings are always under control. 7

8 Travel Cash (MaterCard*) Safe cash withdrawal Swiss Bankers Travel Cash at a glance: You can withdraw cash at more than 2 million cash points worldwide. You can obtain goods and services at over 30 million sales outlets worldwide cash-free. PayPass: Allows the contacless payment of small amounts at every PayPass card terminal. The card is not directly tied to any bank account. The Travel Cash Card is protected by a PIN number. Should the card be lost or stolen, it will be replaced free of charge with the remaining balance. The card can be loaded with amounts between 100 and 10,000 Euros, US Dollars or Swiss Francs, has unlimited validity and can be charged up at any time. Each withdrawal costs CHF 5.-, EUR 5.-, USD 5.- according to card currency. Cash-free payments in shops cost CHF 1.-, EUR 1.-, USD 1.- according to card currency. When purchasing the card, a commission of 1% of the value of the card will be paid, which corresponds more or less to an insurance premium against loss or theft. *Cards with the Maestro logo have a smaller acceptance network and no PayPass function. These can be exchanged with us. Advantage You can load your Travel Cash Card at any time. All you need to do is just give us a ring. 8

9 Delivered directly to your home Foreign Currencies & Travel Cash Card Whether you place an order for banknotes in a specific foreign currency or a Swiss Bankers Travel Cash Card, you will receive your order generally within 24 hours delivered to your home. There is normally a charge of CHF 5.00 for this service. Advantage We despatch to your home banknotes in around 80 foreign currencies and the Swiss Bankers Travel Cash Card. And as well as that we can arrange to send you a Swiss Bankers Travel Cash Card in an emergency, even when you re abroad. 9

10 Tips on how to handle your travel money Not every restaurant accept your credit card for payment; not every cash point is always working. But there s always something you can use, and so: Take a variety of travel money with you on holiday. Travellers are victims of theft time and again at wellknown tourist locations, on buses and trains and at the airport and railway station. That s why it s important for you to: Keeep your travel money in different places and do not write your PIN code down anywhere. In case you are a victim of theft or if you lose your travel money, it s a good idea to: Keep a note of all your important information for emergencies (telephone numbers, account/card no., etc.) separate from your travel money. 10
