OPEN DATA WON T ANSWER TO ALL OUR PROBLEMS Reluctance: hard financial benefits Commercial sensitivity & data protection issues Data quality & System- and data ownership BUT Net benefits: Improving/Digitizing journey experience + saving time PTOs/PTAs: transparency & operational efficiency Rapid response Relatively cheap to run Quick results in supporting the smart urban growth 21

22 TAKEAWAYS The public transport sector should be: - proactive in supporting the provision of Open Data - preferably on a cost free basis - with limited or no restrictions (public data = publicly owned) Open Data create new opportunities! Open Data build smart cities! 22
