About School e School of Continuing Education has been established to offer continuing education Programs to the learners, particularly belonging to the disadvantaged classes residing in distant areas, through flexible mode of learning. e strength of the school lies in the variety of the content of the Programs, which can be offered by the school. e school had concentrated on the technical-based vocational Programs, in its early phase. However, the school is now focusing on other vocational Programs and professional Programs. e school is pro-active and flexible in framing policies to address the need of the development and delivery of the Programs. 1.1 Objects of the School e School sets before itself the following Objects consistent with the objects of the YCMOU, in particular, as enshrined in the YCMOU Act 1989, First Schedule, section 01: To provide through instruction, teaching and training and other educational opportunities, access to larger and larger segment of population, and in particular to the disadvantaged groups such as those living in remote and rural areas including working people, housewives and other adults who wish to upgrade or acquire knowledge through studies in various fields; To promote acquisitions of knowledge in a rapidly developing and changing society and to continually offer opportunity of upgrading knowledge, training and skills in the context of innovations, research and discovery in all field of human endeavor by developing educational network with the use of modern communication media and technologies appropriate for a learning society; [1(c)] To develop innovative, need based vocational courses and establish industry, institution linking for developing the society; [1(f)] To provide through incidental and non-formal means, for continuing and extension of education in various cultural forms, arts, crafts, and skills of the country, raising their quality and improving their availability to the people;[1(g)] To provide major part of its resources and direct efforts in designing, developing and offering need-based and relevant vocational courses. Aims and Prospects of the Programs 2.1 DFDBM (V36) Due to liberalization and globalization the purchasing power of the Indian customer has seen a dramatic thrust in the recent past. e neo-rich populace is every so thirsty to quench their thirst for fast way of life. e market of fashion is growing leaps and bounds. With the growth of the fashion industry, there is a corresponding growing segment of employment for the professionals. e Program Diploma in Fashion has been introduced with the professionals of the fashion industry in mind. 5 enable the target group to avail the opportunities to work in the fashion industry as Merchandiser/ Assistant Production In-charge, Store Manager, Brand Manager, Category Manager, Fashion buyer executing the managerial level jobs in fashion industry. After completing the Programs, the student is expected to Become and independent and effective learner in the domain of the subject matters, because we believe that the learning is a continuous process and does not end with an examination or certification. (ID) (V30) Interior Design touches the lives of all of us in a very direct way. We all live in interiors, and most of us work, study. Shop and travel inside various buildings, vehicles and other enclosures. At one time or another, almost each one of us has been a interior designer on a limited scale, when choosing a paint or a rug, when buying furniture, or arranging pieces in a new living space. For these reasons, interior design is of interest to everyone. 6 through interiors of high aesthetic value. An Interior Designer needs to possess high quality of education along with extensive experience in the field of chosen activity. (EVS) (V34) Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary area as it incorporates applied and theoretical aspects of human impact on the world. Further, it encompasses our living ambience. e present century is witnessing its degradation and it is true of many developing countries like India. Environmental Science discipline took input from the social science such as Economics, Sociology, and Political Science. us, Environmental Science has evolved as an interdisciplinary field. Environmental Science also gets academic inputs from studies from subjects like Biology, Laws, Sociology, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Philosophy, Earth Science, Computers and various branches of Engineering. Environmental Science concerns with the problems from all walks of life. After the completing the post graduation, the students are expected to become professionals in the area of environmental studies. Such professional are required in various arena of work and fields of academic studies. ey contribute greatly to the policy making at national and international forums like State Pollution Control Boards, Central Pollution Control Board, and Research based Environmental projects in the field of Energy, Forestry, Agriculture, Land use planning, Industrial processes, Wild life management, Population control, Sanitation etc. 2.7 M.A. (Fashion Administration) (P94) e service sector is the largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product of Indian economy. 9 Exhibit the attitudes compatible with the fashion industry like aesthetics, teamwork, hard-work, pleasant style of working B.Sc in Facility Services (B.sc(Fs))(V19) e objectives is to provide knowledge in facility services and develop skilled manpower for service industries.. e service sector in developing countries like India increasing rapidly and therefore there is large amount of requirement of skilled manpower from all sectors of Industry. Keeping in mind the need of all industries to fulfill their requirement Program on Facility Services have been designed and launched. is facility services have Basic, Advanced and graduate level program.each program is designed in sucha way that students would get well exposure to various employment options 3. Duration e DFDBM is of 1 year duration. e registration for the Program is valid for 3 years after which the student is required to re-register. e B.Sc.(FD), B.Sc.(ID), B.A.(Textiles) a n d B.sc(FS) Programs are of 3 years duration. e registration for the Program is valid for 8 years after which the student is required to re-register. e B.F.A. Program is of 4 years duration. e registration for the Program is valid for 8 years after which the student is required to re-register. e MA (Fashion Administration), M.Sc.(FD), M.Sc. (ES) M.B.A(Fashion Business) Programs are of 2 years duration. e registration for the Program is valid for 6 years after which the student is required to re-register. 4. Medium of Instruction e Programs are in English Medium, except B.A. (Textiles). e medium of B.A. (Textiles) is MarathiMarathi. 5. Learning Method e students would work in the actual work situations to complete the Program. ese academic Programs are designed for non-working and working students as well. With some time management and determination, the student can easily complete these Programs while continuing his/her job, profession or other education. Well-qualified counselors at Study Centre solve student s difficulties, during the counseling sessions. Students have to perform practical only at the study centre laboratories, during counseling sessions, under supervision and guidance of counselors. Activities at the study centres are organized daily and specially on holidays, normally at time convenient to the student. 10 Practice Examination for each theory course may be conducted at the study centre to provide feedback to students about their study. It also prepares the student for the end examination. e End Examination held once in a year for all courses, are conducted directly by the university. 6. Similarly, SY students are eligible to TY in the next academic year. Students are advised not to wait for result to take admission in subsequent years. 7.2 Registration (Admission) Procedure Online Admission Process: is program is offered through online admission process. You are advised to do the following in order to secure admission. 1. Go though the prospectus meticulously. Ensure that you are eligible for the admission and you possess all the required document which will prove your eligibility. e following is a typical list of documents which you will need: i. Proof of date of birth (Driving Licence OR PAN card OR Aadhar card OR Leaving certificate OR Passport OR Election Voter card) ii. Passing certificate and/or Mark sheet showing that you have passed the qualifying examination iii. In case there is an entrance test for this program, you will need the statement or certificate showing that you have cleared the entrance test iv. If you belong to a backward class, you will need cast certificate, cast validity, non-creamy layer, certificates (depending on the rules for the category) v. If you belong to a category of disadvantaged class (e.g., visually impaired) you will need documents as proof of your status 2. You are required to get these documents scanned (with a resolution of at least 72 dot per inch) to get scanned images which are readable and have decent quality. You are expected to have Savings bank account with debit card or net baking facility. is will ensure that the university may track the fee transactions accurately. In case the fees need to be refunded (for a reason of University not able to fulfil its stated responsibility) the refunded amount will be credited back to the same account (from which the fees transaction initially was made). Hence, if you use your own account you will get the benefit of such service. e student will have to pay Study Center fees to the Study Center directly and get a receipt and are advised to pay the amount not more than that which is mentioned in Prospectus. 5. If you do not have Savings Bank account, you may open such account with debit card or net banking facilities with any of the banks. e university has tied up with Central Bank of India which get you a Bank account with zero balance facility (that is, it will not be compulsory for you to keep a minimum balance as per the rules) and a debit card and net banking facilities. For this, you will need to go through the process of online admission and get a certificate from the Study Centre saying that you have are eligible for the program of the YCMOU.the rules for bank and of regulating bodies will be applicable. If you do not have such connection, you may go to a cyber cafe, a study centre, a friend or any other similar location.you are advised to use Internet explorer (Latest version). 7. Once you have done the initial preparation as mentioned above, you may proceed with the online admission. You will click on the Home page of the official websites of the university (ycmou.digitaluniversity.ac or ycmou.ac.in). 8. e details of the online admission process with detailed screen images are given in a separate document. (URL). A video clip to help you in the online process is also available on the (URL). 9. You will be guided through a series of web pages which will be generated for you as per your response. 10. You will be required to fill in online form as prompted by the software. e information in the boxes marked with star are compulsory. 11. After you have filled in the entire form online, you would be asked by the system to upload the relevant documents depending on the information supplied by you. For example, the system will ask for Cast Certificate, Validity, creamy layer document only if the candidate has informed the system that he belongs to the social reservation category. 12. After you have uploaded the documents, you are required to visit a study centre selected by you. You are expected to carry with you the original documents of all the scanned documents submitted by you. e study centre will check if you have submitted the documents as per the requirements, and that they are True documents and that you are eligible for admission to the selected program. If there is a defect in your submission which can be repaired, you may correct the defect within the last date of admission. Unless your application form is checked and accepted by the staff at Study Centre, you will not be allowed to pay the fees. You will deposit the necessary University Program Fee(UPF) to the YCMOU by following the instructions in the online admission process. e bank will charge the transaction charges as per the policies of the bank and shown on the online portal at appropriate window. e Study Center Fee (SCF) will have to be paid to Study Center directly. 15. Once you have successfully completed the transaction of payment, you will receive a Receipt of University Program Fee(UPF). is may be printed by you and preserved for future use. 16. e Regional Centre will check the validity of the document submitted by you online. If your application is found to be correct and free of any inconsistencies, doubt, you will be informed about this on SMS and . In case your case is found to have inconsistency or the information supplied by you contradicting with the information as per the documents or you are found not to be eligible as per the stated rules of the prospectus, your status of ineligibility will be communicated with reasons and the fees will not be refundable in such a case. 17. e University Program Fee(UPF) paid by you will be refunded only if the admission cannot be granted or if the program cannot be offered due to any reasons which are the cases of YCMOU not being able to perform its stated functions or services. Hence you should be very clear about your eligibility status. 25 may change to study centre 'B' only when you take admission in SY (or TY) but not in the middle of the year. To get transferred to study centre 'B' from 'A' you need to take No Objection Certificate (NOC) from 'B' study centre and No Dues Certificate (NOC) from study centre 'A'. All study centres are required to give NOC to students who do not have any dues to study centre on account of fees mentioned in this prospectus. 8. Examination Fee (EF): Only a repeater student has to pay examination fees, directly to the university, along with an examination form, each time he wishes to appear for the end examination. EF is Rs. 400/- for each course. Exam fee is to be paid by way of Bank Challan Examination Forms are available at the study centre. Examination Fee covers conduct and declaration of result of end examination for all those courses for which examination fee is paid. Convocation Fee: e final year students will have to additionally pay a convocation fee of Rs to enable a certification in case of their successful completion of the Program. Library and Hostel Fee/Deposit: If student want to use the library and/or hostel facilities of the study centre contact the Program coordinator. Note that the rules regarding use of library and/or hostel facilities framed by the study centre will be binding on him. Student may be required to pay separate Fee and deposit, directly to study centre as per their rules. Refundable Deposit: Study centre shall collect interest free Refundable Deposit of maximum of Rs. 5000/- (Rs. Five ousand only), from each student enrolled at the study centre, for the Book Bank, for the complete Program. 8.2 Rules of Refund (1) e university will not refund any part of University Program Fee for any reasons whatsoever, to any student. e student must ensure that he/she is eligible for admission to the Program and that the necessary documents have been attached with the admission forms.. e fees for the candidate found not eligible on the scrutiny of the forms shall not be refunded. (2) e study centres are not liable to refund any part of Study Centre Fee to any student, for any reasons whatsoever. (3) University Program Fee will be refunded only in case the University is not able to conduct the Program due to reasons beyond its control or if YCMOU does not sanction admission to a candidate when the candidate is eligible for the admission but the study centre preferred by the student can not be offered or is not able to function due to situation beyond its control. 27 8.3 Where and How to Pay A student has to pay accordingly : University Program Fee (UPF) a t t h e t i m e o f O n l i n e a d m i s s i o n P r o c e s s. Study Centre Fee (SCF) directly to the study centre.. If Bank proposes to take service charges then student have to pay the amount as mentioned in challan. 8.4 Other Financial Conditions Every enrolled student shall have to pay both University Program Fee and Study Centre Fee. Students are requested to note following information about maximum Study Centre Fee : Study centres are not allowed to collect more Study Centre Fee than mentioned in prospectus. Students are advised to pay same amount which is mentioned in prospectus, towards the payment of Study Centre Fee e transaction with regard to the SC Fee is a bilateral affair between the student and the SC. e university may not normally intervene in the matter on complaints by either the study centre for having less fee from the student nor to the student for having paid more fee than prescribed in the prospectus. Study centres will collect Study Centre Fee against their own receipt and will maintain its records of receipt. 9. Evaluation Scheme and Procedures 9.1 eory Courses e eory examination shall have two components namely internal assessment (20 marks) and end examination (80 marks). e examination pattern for End Exam is given in Appendix e internal marks are to be given by the study centres and must be submitted to the Examination Section before 30 April in the format given in appendix. e internal assessment is conducted only once and a student can not take it as a repeater (even for absentees). e distribution is as follows: Attendance 10 Marks Unit Test Marks Unit Test Marks Extra Co Curricular Activities 10 Marks Assignment 10 Marks Discipline 10 Marks Note : is 100 marks finally converted into 20 Marks. Standard of Passing : eory course: 40% combined (in internal assessment and end examination) and 40% independently in end examination. In case the candidate does not complete a theory course successfully, (s) he may take the End Examination as a repeater student by paying requisite fee and by following stipulated procedure. For the theory courses, the CA (out of 20), EE(out of 80) and Total marks (out of 100) obtained will be reported. For the theory plus practical courses, a. the marks in the theory Component will be reported as (CA(out of 20), EE(out of 80) and Total marks (out of 100) b. Marks in Practical Component will be reported as (Journal (out of 10), Viva Voce(out of 15), performance in practical activities (out of 25) and the total (out of 50) shall be reported. For the Project Courses the marks for CA(out of 75) and EE (Out of 75) and Total (out of 150) shall be reported. Student can improve his/her previous grades obtained in a course at any year by reappearing in End Examination. Only the best of the past examination performance, of a student in any course will be reported in the grade-cum-mark sheet. But no grade improvement shall be allowed after the award of a degree. Hence student should consider improvement in grades before applying for the convocation. For reporting the consolidated performance of a student in a Consolidated Mark sheet may be issued at the end of successive completion of all the courses and components. 29 9.5 General Guidelines for Projects M.Sc. (EVS)] (a) e student will identify the topic for research and the guiding teacher. He/ she shall send the synopsis to the University for approval in the prescribed format. e shared projects will not be allowed. In exceptional cases when the task of project work is important and requiring great amount of manpower, a team project will be allowed. However each student must have different title of project work, with clearly defined and distinctly different objectives of work. e synopsis of project work must be submitted to the University through websites (web forum and ). (b) University shall grant the approval after scrutinizing the same and inform the Guide and the candidate. (c) e guide shall keep track of the work done by the candidate in such a manner as to enable him to award marks properly and judicially. (d) e University shall make appropriate arrangements for evaluation of the projects work. (e) e guide shall submit the marks report in a sealed enveloped with necessary signature to the study centre Head. (f) e student shall submit the two copies of the final project report duly signed by the guiding teacher to the University at the time of presentation of duration 15 minutes. (g) e external examiner shall give marks to the examinees after going through the presentations of the Project work..
