3 Rapid rise of energy cost in 1970 s spurred research and investment in renewable energy. Subsequent lower energy cost = loss of interest in/support for renewable/alternative energy. State and national energy programs and energy codes affect commercial & residential buildings. All public buildings constructed/renovated in the state must strive to achieve a green rating.
