3 HKU and the Faculty of Education The Uniersity (1911) - oer 100 years of tradition 10 Faculties: 2,000 professors, 20,000 students in 2013 The Faculty of Education: origins in a Department in the Faculty of Arts (1917). Became a separate Faculty in professors, 2,000 students Offered M.Ed. since 1978 Mandated inquiry-based learning since 2002 Ranked #6 by QS in 2015

4 Master of Education The Master of Education (M.Ed) at HKU is an academic degree aiming to proide professionals with a general understanding of education as a field of study, to encourage focused mastery of their chosen area of specialization, and to equip them with the skills to understand and conduct educational research and problem-focused inquiry.

5 Postgraduate Certificate in Adanced Educational Studies (PCAES) PCAES is a certificate programme aiming to proide professionals with analytical support and guidance, and shape their mastery and skills in a specific field of studies and professional actiities.

14 Class contact and study mode Generally on weekdays during 6:30-9:00pm; {few modules may start earlier subject to timetabling / enue arrangements} Two 10-week semesters (classes suspended on public holidays and reading weeks) per academic year 24 face-to-face hours per course, plus e-forums, indiidual and group study

15 Support programs Support to help students learn includes: Library orientation session and workshops Academic writing workshops Small group and indiidual assistance with research techniques and methods of analysis (SPSS) Online Learning & Teaching System (MOODLE)

Committee Annual reiews by uniersity and tri-annual by UGC
