16 Steps to ACTEA Accreditation Correspondent member Affiliate member Provisional recognition for up to four years Candidate for accreditation Up to four years (Self-Evaluation process) Accredited member Renewable after eight to ten years 16

17 Step 1: Correspondent member Initial stage Contact Offers any institution three-year renewable ACTEA membership (US$60 for 3 years) Submit application and institutional prospectus to ACTEA Correspondent Members receive non-accreditation services from ACTEA 17

18 Step 2: Affiliate member School meets three core academic standards: admissions, teaching staff qualifications, length of programme Admission requirement for post-secondary diploma = completion of full secondary school (or specific exam result if required by national policy) Admission requirements for degree = national university entrance 18

19 Step 2: Affiliate member School meets three core academic standards: admissions, teaching staff qualifications, length of programme Teaching staff have recognized academic qualifications one level above the level being taught 1 year study = hours (e.g. 450 class hrs hrs individual study hrs field ministry experience) 19

20 Step 2: Affiliate member (cont d) Governing board formally declares intention to pursue accreditation with ACTEA Library is on good trajectory to meet ACTEA standards Affiliate status gives designated programme full, but provisional, academic recognition by ACTEA for up to four years 20

21 Step 3: Candidate for accreditation When it is determined that school can meet all ACTEA standards within a four-year period During candidacy, school undertakes institutional selfevaluation based on ACTEA standards, makes needs corrections School successfully submits Self-Evaluation Report ACTEA Visitation Team visits school 21

26 Coming in 2012 ACTEA Associate Status For institutions with other forms of academic recognition (e.g. government) who desire ACTEA validation of evangelical ethos and training for Christian vocations Programmes will meet selected ACTEA standards, pay reduced annual fees 26
