4 In addition, with the new Amdocs OSS in place, Tata Communications plans to take advantage of new features such as Amdocs Class of Service capability, which enables allocation of capacity for IP-based services as they are fulfilled. This will help Tata Communications maintain better visibility of resource usage and attain greater proactive control over service levels. Enhanced capabilities for IP and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) network modeling are also provided in Amdocs OSS 8. Looking ahead, Amdocs OSS 8 lays the groundwork for the deployment of other new modules and Tata Communications has the option for Amdocs Route Finder (for automatic circuit route determination) and Amdocs Class of Service Manager (for capacity management and traffic partitions). TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT Amdocs Products: Amdocs OSS 8 comprised of Amdocs Resource Manager, Amdocs Network Inventory Packs, and Amdocs Class of Service Manager Amdocs OSS System Integration Services Integrations: Integrations to Trouble Ticketing and Fault Management systems Operating System: AIX 6.1 Rapid, seamless upgrade The upgrade to Amdocs OSS 8 required custom integrations to approximately six back-end legacy systems at Tata Communications. Among other integrations, the upgrade also called for the porting of the Amdocs OSS Suite Service Assurance Adapter to integrate with Assurance Systems. Even with this complexity, the entire migration was accomplished in seven months with only 16 hours of downtime for the migration. As part of the migration effort, Amdocs performed a data cleansing process to enhance the quality of the inventory data. Operational efficiency, planning processes, fulfillment processes and service assurance will all be positively impacted by this improvement..
