3 Construction Materials Testing Classes of test The following is a listing of the classes and subclasses of tests available in the field of Construction Materials Testing. The individual scopes of accreditation of facilities provide more detail than the classes and subclasses listed below by also including reference to test methods. In some cases, the scopes will include descriptions of the type of test performed, or limit the scope of tests to particular products or parts of a test. Notes: 1. It is not uncommon for a test method to call up other methods. Where these other methods are an integral part of the test procedure that is required to be followed, then accreditation must also cover the other methods. For example: Accreditation for soil testing to many of the procedures contained in AS 1289 will ordinarily require accreditation for AS and AS Accreditation for testing to AS requires accreditation to be held for AS or Accreditation for testing to AS requires accreditation to be held for AS and.23. Accreditation for sedimentation testing to AS requires accreditation for AS Methods that serve as references, but do not detail any procedural requirements, are not normally listed in the scope of accreditation. Copies of these do not need to be held by the facility. 3. Methods that serve as references that detail procedural requirements (e.g. equipment specifications, verification procedures or other information pertinent to the testing) are not listed in the scope of accreditation. Copies of these methods must, however, be held by the facilities (e.g. AS1289.0, AS1141.1,.2). 4. Class 2.02 (Remote work sites) provides details for any fixed facility away from the accredited base facility from which testing may be performed under the direct control of the base facility, although coverage in these instances is limited to tests where the distance or time factors associated with transport from the remote location can significantly influence the test results. Allowable tests include AS , 3.1, 4.2, 8.1 (for concrete curing sites), AS , AS (for remote quarry sites) and AS (preparation), AS , 5.2.1, 5.4.1, 5.7.1, (for remote soil testing sites). The scope of accreditation will detail the specific tests undertaken at any such fixed facility for each listed site address. Class 2.02 also provides details where a facility has demonstrated the capability to perform tests from a mobile facility under the direct control of an accredited base facility. The scope of accreditation will detail the specific range of testing for which any such mobile facility is suitably equipped. The requirements for the establishment of annex facilities, including notification to NATA of the project location, will apply for any deployment of such mobile facilities undertaken as part of a contracted project (i.e., other than for general call-out work).
