1 International R&D Project Management: Preparation and Management of Research and Development Projects at an International level and programs of associated cooperation (24 hours) Description The planning and management of R&D is an area that requires specialized knowledge, especially taking into account the inherent complexity of the management and coordination at the various phases of an R&D, the different funding sources available and funding programs / cooperation involved, the participation of different types organizations (public, private, SMEs, Large enterprises, etc..) and geographical origin (even considering the internationalization trend of R&D s) and the increasing competitiveness to be selected. This seminar will allow students to learn the fundamentals and main activities in the design phases (and preconception), preparation of the proposed R&D, negotiation, planning, executing and closing a R&D, acquiring skills to structure a in work packages and fundamental aspects to properly structure a consortium of international R&D, the sources of information and search tools more effective State of the Art, acquire fundamental knowledge to develop and structure a R&D proposal, and efficiently prepare the consortium of an International R&D. Methodology The training is carried out using an online tutoring method. The study and reinforcement activities include: (i) individual study through access to informative material in our Virtual site. At the end of each unit, the student will take an assimilation test on the course contents which is mandatory, (ii) case studies through which the students will be able to put into practice the knowledge and / or skills acquired in the course, which is compulsory, (iii) the use of debate tools such as forums, in which the tutors will share with students debate issues associated with current topics associated with the course, and students will be able to ask questions to the tutors on the course content ; (iv) online support material which includes complementary reading, theoretical material and on-line consultancy.

6 Tutoring This course is organized and run by the Vertech-Group company, a French SME specialized in the area of sustainability and the environment. The training will be supervised by Mr.Barona and Mrs.Paola Castrillo. Mr. Barona is the responsible of the overall R&D, Innovation & Business strategy of the company. He holds a Bs in Civil Engineering, M.Sc. on Materials and Innovation in the Construction sector, M.Sc. in Project Management and a MBA. Mr. Barona has more than 10 years of experience in the management, planning, execution and control of building and infrastructure construction together with the coordination of international research and development funded s applied on sustainable solutions for buildings and industry. Former member of the Ad-Hoc Industrial Advisory Group of the European Commission for Energy Efficient Buildings (AIAG-EE) and member of several international academic, business and research platforms dealing with Environmental and Energy Technologies for a Sustainable Future. In term of international research cooperation, he has not only actively participated in more than a 200 proposals but has led as Coordinator of 2 FP7 s (i.e. EE- QUARRY & S4EeB) focused on the construction aggregate sector, energy efficiency for industrial facilities and novel ICT solutions for energy efficient and sustainable buildings and its surroundings. Mrs. Paola Castrillo has a Science and Materials Engineering PhD from Carlos III he University of Madrid. From 2004 to the present she has been active in the preparation, management, coordination and / or development of various R & D s in the areas of European development and application of new materials (INNOBITE-FP7, TECNOCAI- CENIT DINATER-MICINN, NANOTER-MICINN), improved energy efficiency in buildings: (S4EeB-FP7) and sustainability (FFW-FP7). She has participated in many congresses and conferences, aimed at developing new materials and sustainable technologies. She has developed various studies in renowned research centers both in Europe and in the U.S. (eg NorthWestern University), and has participated in various publications focusing on the development of new high performance materials. Currently working as Commercial Manager for Vertech Group while at the same time actively participates in different R & D s.

7 Certification Vertech Group will issue a participation certificate with the following requirement: the students must take part in 100% of the compulsory educational activities. Those students who also take part in at least 90% of the optional activities and use actively the complementary material which they can have from the Virtual Classroom will have a discount of between 25 and 30 % in other courses offered by Vertech Group. Academic requisites A university graduate (with diploma or bachelors) as engineer, technician, or equivalent.
