4 TERM-BY-TERM CREDIT-HOUR REQUIREMENT 1. Minimum of SIX credits per full-time term. 2. Includes transfer students. 3. Can include credit from another institution provided certain requirements are met. Bylaw (a) Interpretation April 13, 2005

5 ANNUAL CREDIT-HOUR ACTUAL METHOD REQUIREMENT 24-semester/36-quarter hours. Since the previous fall or previous two semesters/three quarters. AVERAGING METHOD OR 12-semester/-quarter hours. Per term during each academic year in which the student-athlete was enrolled full time at any point. Bylaw (b)

6 AVERAGING METHOD 1. Can ONLY be used for certification going into the fall term. 2. If a student-athlete is enrolled full time at any point during an academic year, both regular terms MUST be counted in the denominator regardless of enrollment status. 3. Part-time hours may be used, provided that term is also counted in the denominator. 4. May include summer hours. 5. It is going away in 2016!

7 75/25 RULE Hours earned during the regular academic year: 1. A student-athlete shall earn no less than 75% of the minimum number of semester/quarter hours required during the academic year. 2. No more than 25% may be earned during the summer. Bylaw

9 DESIGNATION OF DEGREE 1. A student-athlete must designate a major by the beginning of the fifth semester or seventh quarter of collegiate enrollment. 2. During the first two years of enrollment, credits used to certify progress toward degree may count toward any degree program. 3. Beginning in year three, all credits used must be degree applicable.
