1 Master Instruction MI EIO2211 A-(en) GAE953 Electrical Alarm Unit 19" with Indicator The electrical alarm unit GAE953 gives a signal when one or two set alarm values have been exceeded. Input signals from 0/4 to 20 ma, from 0 to 10 V, from 1 to 5 V, from 0/0.2 to 1 V can be processed as input variables. The device has two inputs with min. (= low) or max. (= high) monitoring, but they can also be switched together for min. and max. monitoring of a single input or of a difference between 2 inputs. The digital display on the front plate permits the control of the inputs as well as the set alarm values. FEATURES Use as double alarm unit for 1 input signal or as double alarm unit for differential signal between 2 inputs or as 2 single alarm units for 2 separate inputs 3 1/2 position LED digital display at front plate to indicate input and alarm values Input or alarm value display from channels 1 and 2 Minimum or maximum value monitoring canbeselected Normally closed or normally open circuit canbeselected Alarm value setting by means of a potentiometer at front plate Alarm indication by means of red LEDs Alarm monitoring by means of relay outputs with double contacts Line break detection Galvanic separation between input, power supply and output EMC in accordance with the latest NAMURrecommendations and international standards and laws
2 2 GAE953 MI EIO2211 A-(en) 1 METHOD OF OPERATION 1.1 Block diagram Power supply UC 24 V Input E1 Output Alarm value G1 U co nst U % Input E2 Output Alarm value G2 Line break monitoring B 1.2 Operation The alarm unit consists of two independent alarm value signal channels having a common power supply. The input signals are converted to the intern voltage signal by the appropriate input circuit (15). The difference of the two converted input signals are produced in the amplifier (16). Assignment of the monitoring channels to both inputs, respectively to the difference of both inputs takes place at the jumper group (17). The input value and the preset alarm value are compared in the comparator (18)with jumper (19) for the selection of the minimum and/or maximum alarm signalizing. The alarm value is set by means of the potentiometer (20), which receives its power supply from the reference voltage source (21). If the input value exceeds the set alarm the comparator changes its output voltage, the appropriate signal lamp (22) is actuated and the output relay switches over. The operating mode for the output relay (normally closed or normally open circuit) can be selected by means of the jumper (23). This transfer affects the output relay (24) with 2 isolated changeover contacts. At the front plate there is a 3 digit 7-segment display integrated containing 2 LEDs (25), on which the input and alarm values can be initiated by means of the selection switch (26) located in front. Thelinebreakdetectioncanbeallocatedtothe inputs by means of the jumper group (27). Line break monitoring takes place upon falling below the internally set sensitivity by the appropriate signal lamp as well as by the output relay (28)withisolated changeover contact. The power supply is provided by means of the built-in universal current power supply unit (29) for UC 24 V. A start up delay circuit prevents the unintentional connection of the comparators during plug-in of the device.
