Will USB flash drives work with Wii U?

1 Jul 11, 2012 Hey all. Very quick question: Will USB flash drives work with Wii U? Because I have a few laying somewhere around my house (will have to look), and don't have an external hard drive (will get one when I need it for my Wii U). 2 U, but their use really isn't recommend by Nintendo, likely due to reliability issues, and also the perhaps slower read/rewrite times that a thumb drive has when compared to a Hard Drive. I see that on the back of the Wii U that there's 2 more USB ports. Could you plug a Hard drive into one of these? I don't really see a use for 4 USB ports on the Wii U. Jan 2, :25 PM It doesn't matter whether you plug into the front or back USB ports, as each would be able to be used with a Hard Drive, it would probably more depend on just whether or not you wanted to see the wires connected at the front, or more hidden at the back of the Wii U console. Jan 2, :06 PM Just for the record, external hard drives that don't have their own dedicated power supply don't work properly with the Wii U, so i doubt that any kind of flash drive will work well either. It may work somewhat, but i would be safe and get an external hard drive with it's own dedicated power supply so you don't risk the safety of your precious data. Will have to learn how to do that... sorry if this is off-topic, MOD's but i'm just helping a fellow forum member be more efficient. you just have to right click where you want to insert a link and it should give you an option to "insert link". I just have the webform tab open and copy and paste the link into the box and click "insert". Then you should be able to edit the text of the link once it's inserted and it will still take you to the same place. hope this helps Jul 11, Re: Will USB flash drives work with Wii U? Jan 2, :17 PM But, the difference between a Nintendo USB Flash Drive and any other (i mean, not a poor or a "pirate" one..) USB Flash Drive should be (at least) the Nintendo logo!. I mean, what BIG difference could be between them both?, they are just USB Flash Drives and their function is to storage digital data!!. 6 Flash drives should work just fine have been using them forever with the Xbox 360 never an issue they have a longer read write life than you need to worry about just buy a good fast drive, also small laptop drives work fine AS LONG AS YOU USE A POWERED HUB.
