8 Emzingo s Impact So Far Since June 2010, we ve run 21 short and long-stay programs, and managed 107 projects NPO/NGOs, social enterprises, community based organizations, and training institutions supported in South Africa and Peru Participants from 49 countries attending universities such as FGV, IE Business School, Leeds Business School, London School of Economics, ESADE, IESE, Georgetown and McGill U Learning hours, coaching hours, and mentoring hours delivered Volunteer hours provided by program participants to social impact organizations Copyright Emzingo All rights reserved. 8

10 Impact Learning Trek South Africa This Impact Learning Trek is a 14 day trip that allows students to visit, explore, and experience social innovation in South Africa. Participating students are generally eligible for complimentary activities credit as part of their academic program. LEARN tools and context through workshops with experts on social innovation, impact investing,local economy, history, politics and culture and more. LIVE a cultural immersion with visits and cultural activities in Johannesburg and Soweto community. Meet inspiring entrepreneurs and South African students.. 12 Why South Africa? Rich in natural resources, South Africa s economy has been growing steadily, making it the strongest economy of the region. Despite these resources, most parts of the country are still under-developed, and South African society remains strongly divided into social, economic and racial classes. 16 Improve your English language skills in-country 6-10 July (optional) Take advantage of being in a country where English is one of the official languages and improve your English during an intensive program at a local institution, such as Wits Language School, at a discounted rate (price TBC). During the program you will also get the chance to practice daily your English through the workshops and interactions with the different field partners as you develop solutions to the social challenge. 24 Participant learnings from ILT Peru Jan 2015 Learnt about the importance of co-creation and building on other people s ideas. I learnt that while it is easier to just create solutions or even a product considering only one point of view, when you actually spend time figuring out what motivates your customers or employess, the final result is much more viable. Thomas, FGV Student Learnt about design thinking and human centered design It made me look at problems and solutions as a net rather than a linear process. 25 Participant learnings from ILT Peru Jan 2015 Learnt about the value of a collaborative work environment During the program I met people that somehow make me realize that we can always change our reality if we create a "do together" environment. In college I am always pushed to achieve things alone, but this experience showed me that if we want success we need time to listen to others and get from them insight for the best solution. Euridice, FGV Student Learnt about the challenges and strengths of the social sector I learnt the importance of building a network and eco-system, rather than seeing other organizations as competitors. The most inspiring and successful organizations we met and interviewed were those that made it part of their strategy to share their time and resources with others. Lucia, FGV Student Learnt how the local context and cultural values affects users-decisions The human-centered approach we used during interviews and conversations made it easier for people to open up; it made it simple to connect with people, and identify issues related to the local culture. Valor acadêmico Além de participarem de várias oficinas e sessões académicas onde aprenderão sobre a história, economia, política e cultura local e métodos inovadores de promover a inovação social, os alunos colocarão em prática o conhecimento teórico desenvolvendo um projeto de consultoria para ajudar um negócio social a alcançar suas metas de impacto. Este projeto equivale a uma experiência prática internacional com valor acadêmico. Por ser um programa de imersão que oferece muita interação com pessoas locais, os alunos poderão melhorar as suas habilidades comunicativas em língua estrangeira (inglês ou espanhol). Conexões e experiências transformadoras Durante o programa, os alunos irão realizar trabalhos em equipe com outros participantes, podendo conhecer colegas de outras faculdades e universidades de renome internacional. Além de ampliar a sua rede brasileira, também ampliam a sua rede profissional e pessoal para incluir empreendedores, professores e habitantes de outros países. O programa será uma experiência valiosa para o desenvolvimento pessoal dos alunos, pois eles irão aplicar e adquirir novos conhecimentos para resolver alguns desafios sociais em uma nova cultura e em outro idioma.
