1 Learning enhancement through Mobile & e-learning 1. Participating Schools: Fanling Public School Yan Tak Catholic Primary School 2. Project particulars: a. Course Design: The application of e-learning tools, knowledge, skills and research experience to develop a comprehensive, high-performance, cost-effective e-learning programme. b. Teaching philosophy: i. Through the use of e-learning 2.0 to promote students to become constructors of knowledge and self-directed learners to enhance their ownership in learning. ii. To strengthen teacher and student interaction for collaborative work during learning activities. iii. Establishment of a "continuous", multi-user, interactive learning - Mobile Learning. iv. Catering for Learner Diversity. c. Assessment i. Formative Assessment: starts from the second year from the beginning of the plan conducted by tertiary institutions. Data obtained from the assessment will help teachers to analyse and conclude the effectiveness of the course. ii. School-based and inter-school forms of evaluation: the effectiveness of the overall programme will be evaluated. Pilot schools regular review meetings will be conducted. There will be inter-school review meetings, seminars, workshops and questionnaires.
2 3. Project implementation: Application of IT a. Innovative "electronic teaching kit / e learning management system"(e-book/tl Material LMS) is an interactive, diverse self-learning mode for students. In this system, we will use the following technologies: i. e-learning system-elisbs (e-library, e-schoolbag and e-book System) ii. three-dimensional interactive e-books iii. Augmented Reality iv. QR-Code decoding and connectivity index v. add notes and management functions vi. outdoor offline or online personal multimedia guided learning systems vii. QRPMG (QR-Code Positioning Multimedia Guiding) b. "Collaborative Mobile Whiteboard": strengthening teacher-student interaction and collaboration teaching activities c. Real-time collaborative learning mode: (eg: SharePoint, Live WorkSpace, Google Docs) d. Cloud system: a knowledge base built by teachers and students of the schools and through the collaboration across schools (such as the WiKi, Blog mode) e. Mobile Learning: a multi-interactive learning activity that applies to both inside and outside the classroom f. Tablet PC Collaborative and cooperative model a. Cross-sector cooperation: the education sector collaborates with the publishers. b. School-based model: the pilot schools will develop their own teaching materials and resources. c. Inter-school cooperation: to build a "Professional Learning Communities"composed of all the pilot schools, in order to collaborate effectively. d. Cross-boundary cooperation: the establishment of cross-regional professional communities for e-book / electronic kits and electronic schoolbag teaching and research collaboration Programme. 4. Develop cross-regional large-scale "professional learning communities ": Strengthen communication and cooperation among schools, teachers, students and scholars in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Encourage more participation of overseas scholars, schools and academic groups to participate to form a large "professional learning community ". b. Support for the pilot schools and teacher training: i. Professional training for preparation and exploration: carry out teacher training in the first year of the program on the related concepts, collaboration and enhancement of effectiveness. ii. Training on In-depth study and analysis: carry out in year 2 and 3 to strengthen teachers teaching skills and curriculum. iii. Conduct joint-school Teachers Development Day for pilot schools. iv. Microsoft will provide free information technology training and support for schools, teachers and students v. Association of Mobile Technology and Education will provide free training and support on mobile learning for the pilot schools and teachers vi. M-Log Limited will provide free elisbs system, support and training to pilot schools. vii. Our partner PCCW will provide free network training and support. viii. Our partner Professor KONG, Siu Cheung will provide teaching assistance and support to pilot schools. ix. Our partner ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated will provide free computer training and support. c. Joint pilot schools peer collaboration:
4 i. Create inter- pilot schools "professional learning communities " ii. Monthly co-meetings will be held amongst pilot school teachers. iii. All participating teachers of the pilot schools will conduct joint meetings, peer lesson planning and review every two months. iv. Joint-school teacher development day (once per academic year) d. Support and training for Hong Kong school sector: i. Support local (or overseas) schools to develop related projects,school-based activities and modes of teaching. ii. Association of Mobile Technology and Education, the pilot schools and other collaborative partners will provide relevant training for teachers in Hong Kong and abroad. 6. Program evaluation a. 5 Programme Carry out the project at designated subjects at P4 in. 2012, P.4 and P.5 students are involved. 2013, P.4 to P.6 students are involved. *At the same time, modules in English subject will be applied according to the needs. *At the same time,,other subjects will be reviewed. Electronic learning and teaching packages will be designed or purchased by the schools for applications. April 2014 Results compiled into a book August 2014 Audit (After the project, i.e., the end of the school year,, there will be a comprehensive review, and the project will be promoted to other schools.) b. Outcomes 7. Program results i. e-learning resources: e-learning package at P4-6 Mathematics (whole levels) e-learning package at P4-6 General Studies (whole levels) e-learning package at P4-6 English (units) School-based electronic learning kits ii. Knowledge base built by the pilot schools iii. The project results will be compiled into a book to be used as a reference for schools in Hong Kong
6 The project results will be compiled into a book to be used as a reference for schools in Hong Kong: Field Pilot - Carry out and implement a sustainable schools e-learning and teaching effectiveness model; Hong Kong Schools Global - To provide teachers and students with more interactive, more diversified teaching learning environment; - To provide an e-learning program for other schools for reference and application effectively and fruitfully. - To enable students to develop their higher order thinking (such as: problem solving, creativity, communication skills, collaboration skills) more effectively. - Provide a range of e-learning kit for free of charge; - Provide training for other schools and teachers. - Provides further e-learning programs for schools in other countries for reference and application effectively and fruitfully. - Provide a range of e-learning kit for free of charge. - To form a "cross-regional professional learning community " in order to continue to develop more effective e-learning programs. 8. Sustainability of the project in schools School Promotion i. The results of this project will be promoted through a number of educational seminars and teacher training workshops. ii. The outcome of this project will be shared and promoted to other regions and countries through cross-regional large-scale "professional learning communities". iii. The results of this program will be promoted internationally through organizing "International Conference on Mobile and e-learning". iv. The project will be promoted internationally through Microsoft's Partners in Learning Innovative Education Forums, Innovative Teacher Forums and Partners in Learning Network. v. The project will be promoted through the Hong Kong Education City. vi. Cross-regionally, the e-book and e-teaching kit will be developed and promoted." vii. The formative assessment The project will be used as a reference for the education sector, and to help other schools to plan and carry out their projects
7 viii. Production of papers for publication, to further promote the program globally. Regional talks for parents will be conducted jointly with other organisations. 9. Program Sustainability: Large-scale public events schedule: Time Late 2012 and October 2013 (one event in each year) 2012 and 2013 (one event in each year) Process a series of seminars and workshops "Computer Systems Design Competition in Hong Kong secondary school students"(2012 and 2013) International Conference on Mobile and e-learning i. During the project, the funds will be allocated to purchase a certain number of NetBooks / Pads, for students use. ii. Encourage parents to invest in these materials. iii. Pilot schools will lend the NetBooks / Pads bought in this project to families in need. iv. iii.v. iv.vi. v.vii. To expand the level of e-learning: It will be fully extended to all subjects utilising different forms of e-learning encouraging teachers to create their own electronic kits continuous support and training (teachers, students and parents). Initiate publishers to produce electronic resources for free use in Hong Kong and overseas Encourage e-learning materials suppliers to speed up the programme and optimize the learning materials, then put them to market quickly for academic purchase. Association of Mobile Technology and Education will continue supporting the pilot schools and will continue to seek collaborative partners and the support of other agencies.
