13 SharePoint On-Premises When you need: Tight integration with other applications Server-side code is not allowed in Office 365 SharePoint. Example: Luminis SharePoint

14 SharePoint On-Premises When you need: Large Workloads Executed Processes are limited on O365 to meet the 99.9% uptime guarantee. Example: SharePoint

15 SharePoint On-Premises When you need: A public website with a vanity URL Office 365 does not allow unique DNS entries, only redirection. Example:

17 SharePoint Hybrid When: Your license and\or equipment depreciation cycle has not completed You have a lack of resources to expand the intranet An area of your portal has: Significant custom code Heavy workload requirements Restrictive security requirements (geographic, standards-based) Large file (CADCAM) needs with limited external bandwidth

18 SharePoint Hybrid Considerations: SEARCH Although you can configure cross-site search there are issues with relevance and refiners since results are not treated as aggregated items.

19 SharePoint Hybrid Considerations: SOCIAL Following cross-site objects (i.e. documents) does not work for the site that does not contain the user s profile. Nor does the use of Tags and Notes since they are not propagated to the primary user profile environment.

20 Conclusions O365 SPO SharePoint On-Premises Hybrid O365 + On-Premises The choice for: Distributed users with minimal customization The choice for: Portal-wide customizations Heavy workloads Vanity URL needs The choice for: Limited customizations or workloads Restrictive data requirements
