2 Company History Forensic Analytical Consulting Services is an environmental consulting firm that provides a wide range of industrial hygiene services to its clients nationally. Established in 1986, our services include professional management of asbestos, lead, mold and water intrusion, indoor environmental quality, environmental health and safety management and litigation support. These services are available to owners in key industry sectors to include the construction trades, healthcare, utilities, industrial, commercial, retail, insurance, hospitality, government, financial, legal and other key areas in which the protection of public health is valued. Forensic Analytical Consulting Services is supported by three fully accredited laboratories that specialize in asbestos, metals, molds, and materials quantification services. These laboratories employ the latest in TEM and PCR capabilities and are operated by our sister company; Forensic Laboratory Services. With eight offices in the west (San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Portland, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and Dallas) and effective response programs nationally, we are effectively positioned to help assist you with your firms industrial hygiene needs. 2
3 Executive Team David Kahane, Chairman David Kahane is the founder and principal of. He interfaces with managers and supervisors regarding technical operations. He possesses technical expertise on toxins within the built environment, including asbestos, lead, microbials, pesticides and volatile organic compounds. Mr. Kahane performs industrial hygiene and indoor air quality investigations, statistical evaluations, experimental design, exposure assessments and litigation support. He is frequently requested to lecture on sampling and analytical issues related to building toxins by Universities, professional associations, and industry trade groups. Fred Vinciguerra, Chief Executive Officer Fred Vinciguerra is responsible for the overall management of Forensic Analytical Consulting Services Inc. He has been with the firm for over 18 years and has extensive experience managing staff and client relationships. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the company, he is responsible for all aspects of branch operations and to ensure that all deliverables are technically accurate. Highly respected in the industry, Mr. Vinciguerra has worked his way up from an analytical microscopist to the Hayward Branch Director, Corporate Operations Director and now to the position of CEO. This experience has proven valuable when assisting clients with issues involving public health. Ben Kollmeyer, Chief Technical Officer Ben Kollmeyer has more than eight years of comprehensive technical experience in the environmental health and safety field performing indoor air quality studies, industrial hygiene surveys, environmental assessments, employee training, compliance audits, and accident investigations. He is responsible for the technical operations of Forensic Analytical Consulting Services in each office. Russ Carlin, Chief Marketing Officer Russ Carlin is the Chief Marketing Officer for. Russ specializes in matching environmental products and services to clients nationally. His goal is to address issues of Public Health while also striving to manage overall costs, reduce potential liability, deliver informed solutions and to help provide science in context. For the past 15 years, Russ has worked with multiple regional and national clients and with Forensic Analytical Consulting Services technical and operational staff to create, implement and verify programs that help to effectively manage environmental health concerns. These services include traditional Industrial Hygiene services and innovative programs for building owners, facility managers, construction and risk management professionals. 3
4 John Martinelli, Corporate Director, Healthcare Services John Martinelli works directly with several local and national healthcare organizations providing industry leading environmental consulting services. Mr. Martinelli has more than 10 years experience consulting in healthcare environments and has facilitated numerous presentations and educational programs at regional and national conferences. He has assisted healthcare systems and local hospitals develop and implement compliance and risk management programs. He holds a Healthcare Construction Certificate and is a member of The American Hospital Association (AHA), the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), the American for Professionals in Infection Control and epidemiology (APIC), the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the California Society for Healthcare Engineering (CSHE). Directors Steve Jackson, Director of San Francisco Mr. Jackson has more than 18 years experience providing environmental health and safety consulting services and has extensive understanding of environmental regulations, industry providers, client needs, budgets, sampling and design, and legal ramifications in the industry. After managing local offices for several well known consulting firms, he now manages our staff of consulting professionals in our San Francisco Office. He prides himself on the satisfaction of our clients with regards to quality and customer service. John Martinelli, Director of Northern California John Martinelli has more than eighteen years of experience working in the field of environmental health and safety. He has extensive training experience and is currently accredited by US EPA Region 9 and Cal/OSHA as an asbestos instructor. He is also a Training Director and Lead-Related Construction Design and Management instructor for the CA Department of Health Services. Kevin Trapp, Director of Southern California Kevin Trapp has been with since During his tenure he has provided expertise for numerous lawsuits dealing primarily with contaminant exposure. He has California state certifications and experience in asbestos and lead consulting/sampling. He has also worked on a variety of other projects; these range from residential smoke damage assessments, to large-scale mold/asbestos abatement in a high rise Hawaii hotel, to monitoring infection control during construction projects in active hospitals. 4
5 Dan Schwenke, Director of Portland Dan has over 15 years of experience in professional services and consulting as an executive leader. Prior to being the Portland Director, Dan was the FACS Regional Account Executive for the Pacific Northwest responsible for managing existing accounts and developing new business. As the Director for the Portland office, Dan will continue to play a key role in client development and business growth. In addition, he will have a direct role managing, leading and developing the Portland staff of consulting professionals to ensure the highest level of quality and customer service is met for our clients. 5
6 Service Offerings Asbestos Consulting Services Since the inception of the Environmental Services Division in 1988, its staff has been providing professional and effective solutions to clients who seek to survey, manage or abate asbestos. The staff includes certified industrial hygienists, certified asbestos consultants, and certified site surveillance technicians. The group commonly provides professional services to commercial, industrial and government entities. Professional services include asbestos surveys, abatement project design, abatement monitoring, contractor selection assistance, hazard awareness training, operations and maintenance programs, emergency response, and litigation support. Lead-Based Paint Consulting Services Few companies can claim the leadership, knowledge and experience that Forensic Analytical Consulting Services has developed in the area of lead-based paint consulting. From being one of the first accredited leadbased paint laboratories in the country, to having many of the country s first certified lead-based paint inspectors, Forensic Analytical Consulting Services has always been at the forefront of reducing this health concern to America s children and workers. Close attention to the needs of our clients, proper training, certification of our technical staff, and monitoring of changing technology have enabled Forensic Analytical Consulting Services to continue to be a leader in lead-based paint consulting. We provide XRF Inspections, Risk Assessments, In-place Management, Remediation Design, Remediation Monitoring, Clearance Sampling, Waste Disposal Consultation and Waste Stream Analysis. Mold Consulting Services Fire and water damage, plumbing leaks, and poorly maintained HVAC systems are just some of the many conditions that can result in the growth of mold. Often, if these conditions are not controlled, then the integrity of the building structure and health of the occupants can be compromised. It is important that the water intrusion source be identified and controlled before mold growth becomes a significant problem, and to insure that an effective abatement plan is implemented. We provide Mold Investigations, Mold Remediation Specifications, Mold Remediation Monitoring, Clearance Sampling, Operations and Maintenance Programs and Litigation Support. Industrial Hygiene Consulting Services Forensic Analytical Consulting Services industrial hygienists commonly perform industrial exposure monitoring on employees that are potentially exposed to chemicals above permissible levels. Solvents, volatile organic compounds, toxic organic and inorganic chemicals are routinely sampled. Results of real-time sampling and/or samples submitted to a laboratory are interpreted by highly experienced staff. Specific recommendations are made to ensure the health and safety of employees. Litigation Support Services Forensic Analytical Consulting Services has had extensive experience providing litigation support services during the company s twenty-four year history. Typically centered on uncontrolled releases of hazardous materials, our consulting staff has provided expert testimony, trial strategy, sampling, analysis, and regulatory review for the purpose of risk assessment or hazard evaluation. Forensic Analytical Consulting Services clients have included insurance companies, property owners, manufacturers, contractors, and homeowners. Forensic Analytical Consulting Services provides services to either the plaintiff or defendant in it s search and evaluation of objective scientific data.
