1 1 AVAILABLE PERIMETER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2016 PERIMETER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS Carefully review the available scholarships listed and determine the scholarships in which you meet the eligibility requirements. Please apply only for the scholarships in which you meet all of the criteria. After you have carefully reviewed the eligibility requirements and are ready to apply; complete the scholarship application at Then gather all of the listed required supplemental application materials. Once ALL materials are gathered; submit ALL of your required application materials in one packet by March 1, Only complete and eligible applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Please use paper clips rather than staples when putting together your application packet(s). If faxing your packets, please put your last name on each page. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for faxes not received. Need a letter of recommendation? Be sure to give those writing you letters of recommendation AT LEAST three weeks to complete your request. Letters of recommendation must also be submitted by the March 1, 2016 deadline, so please plan ahead and request letters of recommendation early. Remember, if you will not be returning to Perimeter College for the Summer and/or Fall 2016 semesters you should not apply for these scholarships. ATLANTA WRITERS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students who are enrolled full-time for the Spring 2016 semester and are majoring in English. Applicants must have earned at least 12 credit hours at Perimeter College and have at least two semesters remaining at Perimeter College. One page (double-spaced) essay describing how community service/service learning has affected your education. Letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty member, mentor or employer. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Official documentation of the completion of 25 or more recent community service hours. Document must be signed by a nonprofit agency official and must be on the agency letterhead. Additionally, applicants must be non-traditional students (over the age of 22) and/or mid-career professionals. Applicants must have earned at least 12 credit hours from Perimeter College and be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours for the Spring 2016 semester. 6 OLGA MARY DOUGLAS BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students who are 25 years and older; are single mothers and are majoring in business. Applicants must be enrolled full-time for the Spring 2016 semester and have financial need. Additionally, applicants must have completed at least 15 college-level credits at Perimeter College. Essay discussing your academic and career goals and how this scholarship will help you reach your goals. Documentation of recent community service. Document must be signed by a non-profit agency official and must be on the agency letterhead. A letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. DUNWOODY WOMAN S CLUB Criteria: Female Perimeter College students enrolled on the Dunwoody Campus. Applicants must be 25 years of age or older and must have earned at least 9 credit hours at Perimeter College and be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours on the Perimeter College Dunwoody Campus for the Spring 2016 semester. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen (Permanent Residents are not eligible for this scholarship) and have demonstrated financial need. Must Submit: Essay (no more than three pages) outlining your academic and career goals and how receiving this scholarship will help you attain your goals. Letter of recommendation from a GPC faculty member or employer. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Scholarship Amount: $1,000 for tuition, fees, books, and educational expenses. Committee may elect to award two scholarships. ***You must be listed as a U.S. Citizen in the Perimeter College student information system to be eligible for this scholarship. ALICE JACOBY EGAN SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students enrolled in the honors program on the Dunwoody Campus. Applicants must be US Citizens (Permanent Residents are not eligible for this scholarship) and must be enrolled in at least 9 college-level credit hours for the Spring 2016 semester. Essay outlining your life s goals and objectives and how obtaining education or a college degree will further these goals and objectives. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the Spring 2016 semester and be interested in Mathematics. Additionally, applicants must have completed at least THREE college-level math courses. if you have completed at least three college-level math courses or a 2.00 or higher GPA if you have completed five or more college-level math courses. PAMELA HECHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students who are interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer. Applicants must be 25 years of age or older and must have earned at least 12 credit hours from Perimeter College and be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Perimeter College for the Spring 2016 semester. 9 NORMAN HOLLINGSWORTH BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students enrolled at the Dunwoody Campus who have successfully completed or are currently enrolled in at least two business courses and have at least 8 credit hours left to complete at Perimeter College prior to transfer or graduation. Essay (500 words or less) discussing why you have chosen business as a career and how this scholarship will help you reach that goal. A letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College Business Faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Have a 3.20 or higher GPA Scholarship Amount: $ for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Two scholarships will be awarded. GIRIJA HONKAN ENGINEERING TEXTBOOK SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current sophomores/second year students at Perimeter College who are majoring in engineering and have demonstrated financial need (you must have at least 30 earned college-level course credits to apply for this scholarship). Applicants must be currently enrolled in at least one engineering course at Perimeter College or have completed at least one engineering course at Perimeter College with a grade of C or better. Statement of Financial Need (no more than 250 words) discussing your need for a book scholarship Scholarship Amount: $ for books only. In order to receive the scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours before the scholarship will be disbursed. DR. JUDY C. JOHNSTON SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students who have completed CHEM 1211 (Principles of Chemistry I) lecture and lab and are currently enrolled in or have completed CHEM 1212 (Principles of Chemistry II) lecture and lab. Students enrolled in CHEM 2641 (Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry I) lecture and lab for the Spring 2016 semester may also apply, but students enrolled in CHEM 2642 (Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry II) are not eligible to apply. Scholarship Amount: $ for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. KAISER PERMANENTE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: All currently enrolled Perimeter College nursing students in good academic standing. Nursing Scholarship Application Letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor. The letter must be signed by the recommender. Reference forms are available at Scholarship Amount: $ for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Seven scholarships will be awarded. ANN M. KNIGHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students majoring in Humanities or Education. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of college-level courses at Perimeter College and be interested in a career in public relations, journalism, English or education. Essay (minimum of 500 words) describing your personal goals and financial need. Your essay should indicate your interest in public relations, journalism, English or education. 10 ELISABETH LAUTEMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College students enrolled on the Clarkston campus who have completed at least one semester of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. Additionally, applicants must be a parent and have demonstrated financial need. Letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. No minimum GPA required The recipient must provide documentation proving they are a parent of a minor child in order to receive the scholarship. KEN MANKO BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Declared Business Administration majors at Perimeter College. Applicants must have earned at least 15 college-level credit hours from Perimeter College and at least 9 credit hours in Business Administration course work. A letter of recommendation from a Perimeter College Business Faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender. JOHN MANKO MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College Clarkston students majoring in Music who have earned at least 15 college-level credit hours at Perimeter College. Preference will be given to Piano majors. Two letters of recommendation. One from a Perimeter College faculty member and one from a non-related supporter. The letters must be signed by the recommenders. Have a 2.50 or higher overall GPA Scholarship Amount: $ for tuition, fees, books and expenses. In order to receive the scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled fulltime before the scholarship will be disbursed. STELLA MANKO NURSING SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College nursing students enrolled in Nursing 1921 or Nursing Nursing Scholarship Application Brief essay outlining your professional and volunteer activities and how your involvement in these activities is an example of your dedication to the nursing profession. Letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor. The letter must be signed by the recommender. 11 WANDA BIRCHFIELD MANKO SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Current Perimeter College Education majors who have earned at least 30 college-level credits from Perimeter College and have completed at least one of the following: EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120 or EDUC Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a Perimeter College faculty member. One must be from a non-related supporter. The letters must be signed by the recommenders. Scholarship Amount: $ for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses. Recipient must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) in the semester that the scholarship is disbursed. MARCUS FOUNDATION MILITARY SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: Full or part time Perimeter College students who are veterans or dependents of veterans. Applicants may be incoming or returning students. Applicants must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours for the Spring 2016 semester; have already earned at least 15 credit hours at Perimeter College and have at least one semester left at Perimeter College to complete after the Spring 2016 semester.
