2 MIQUEST Miquest stands for Morbidity Query Information Export Syntax. It is a tool recommended by NHS Connecting for Health for extracting clinical data from different clinical systems. The queries are written using a Health Query Language (HQL) and can extract data such as presence or absence of a condition, prescriptions or referrals. The benefits of using Miquest are: Comparative analysis is more robust as it works across all clinical systems Accurate collection of morbidity data Can define cohorts of patients using subset queries which would not be possible on individual clinical systems Once you are confident in using the MIQUEST module on your clinical system, you can use the flowchart in Appendix 1 which gives an overview of the process for transferring / running the queries. As part of the IM&T DES targets, additional search functionality has been built into INPS to assist practices in producing the following: Problems/diagnoses classified as "significant" or "important" so that an accurate and complete summary can be created The rate of recording of drug and other important allergies and adverse reactions Evidence of recording of telephone consultations in the electronic record at an appropriate rate Evidence of recording of visits in the electronic record at an appropriate rate Note the above information must be obtained from the clinical system before running the Miquest queries. This must be done within 28 days of running the Miquest Queries Page 2 of 24

3 1 Setting Up Remote Connection InPS Remote Vision should be setup be the system supplier on your local desktop pc. There may however be tweaks required in order to ensure your settings remain the same after each login session. Checks to be made: 1.1 Hover over the Remote Desktop icon, right click the mouse button and select Edit. The following Remote Desktop Connection window will appear: Figure 1 Remote Desktop Connection 1.2 Select the Local Resources tab. In Local devices, select Connect only if Disk Drives, Printers and Smart cards is selected. (Serial ports in not important for the purpose of our exercise however there s not harm in if Serial Ports is selected). IMPORTANT: Upon entering the Local Resources tab, if the Local devices were NOT checked as illustrated in Figure 1, then select them. Page 3 of 24

4 1.3 Select the General tab. In Connection Settings select Save As Figure 2 Saving Your Remote Desktop Settings 1.4 The Save As dialogue window will appear. Select Save as illustrated in Figure 3. The icon will save to your Desktop. This will ensure when you logon in future, your Local Computer can be seen when you are in Remote Vision. 5 2 Logging Into Remote Vision And Deleting Existing Queries 2.1 Double click the Remote Desktop icon and enter your username and password details. A view such that illustrated in Figure 4 will appear. Figure 4 Remote Vision IMPORTANT: The way you can determine that you are in a Remote Vision Session is that there will be a trapezium shape icon at the top of you screen with the computer name of the machine. E.g inps.gpsoc.nhs.uk When you see this trapezium shape, you are in Remote Vision TIP: To switch between your Remote Vision session and your local desktop pc, select the Minimise button (found in top right hand corner) in Remote Vision to return to your local desktop pc. (The trapezium shape will disappear) Page 5 of 24

7 2.5 Clear any queries that have been previously run by clicking on Select All in the right hand corner then right click on the highlighted area and select Delete. Figure 7 Delete Queries 2.6 A dialogue box will appear asking you to confirm that you wish to delete all queries. Click Yes. Figure 8 Confirming Queries To Deleted Page 7 of 24

8 2.7 At the prompt Delete associated response as well? click Yes. All queries will disappear from the screen. Figure 9 Deleting Response Queries Page 8 of 24

9 3 Running Remote Vision Specific IM&T DES Reports There is some data that cannot be picked up with either MIQUEST queries, or from clinical audits. Vision is supplied with Additional Reports that will help you find this data. CHART will automatically pick up the data if it is stored in C:\CHART\system reports which is the default path on Configuration Options. 3.1 Navigate to O:\Download\Audit to find a file called DES_Reports.xls. Note in some instance the file path maybe mapped to the P drive. 3.2 Open the file, click Enable Macros and select the following reports: CCLOCS, CCSUMS, CCSUMM and CCDALL. In the Vision Summary, select the most appropriate option as applied to your practice and the Priority check boxes from TIP: Ensure the Configuration Options are set to G:\CHART System Reports where G is the Network Drive within Remote Vision. Create this folder (File >> New >> Folder) if it does not exist Figure 10 DES_Reports.xls 3.3 Select Run Report. Once the reports have ran successfully, a message box will appear Reports completed successfully. You may now close the spreadsheet. 3.4 Open My Computer (This can be found either on the desktop or by selecting the Start button in Windows XP) and navigate to the CHART System Reports folder on the G Network drives. 10 Figure 11 Network and Local Desktop Drives As Seen In Remote Vision 3.5 Highlight one file. Hold down the Ctrl and A key to highlight all the files in the folder. From the menu bar, select Edit >> Cut. 3.6 Navigate to the C:\CHART\system reports under section labeled Other. This is the hard drive of your local desktop pc. From the menu bar, select Edit >> Paste. 3.7 The next step in the process is to run the main IM&T DES library in CHART. Only when this has process has been completed will the results of the System Reports just ran be viewable. The System reports can be found in Referral Report and Allergy and Adverse Reaction Report within CHART. Page 10 of 24

11 4 Running CHART Queries 4.1 From your local desktop pc, open CHART, Enable Macro followed by I Agree to the Confidentiality clause in the Warning box. 4.2 Select the IM&T DES e-audit Tool from the query library as illustrated in Figure 12. Ensure the small white box is checked in order to copy the full library set. Figure 12 Setting up the IM&T DES Library in CHART 4.3 Next click Copy queries to selected drive. (PRIMIS CHART >> Configure >> Query delivery Directory). This is typically configured as C:\CHART\MIQUEST. 4.4 A message will appear: Are you sure you want to copy all the query library to disk?, select Yes. 4.5 Select Yes to extract Named Patient data followed by OK. 4.6 Repeat the above steps 4.3 and 4.4 but this time select No to extract Anonymised data followed by OK. The queries will have copied over to C:\CHART\MIQUEST. Page 11 of 24

12 5 Running MIQUEST Queries In Remote Vision 5.1 Switch back to Remote Vision, go to My Computer and navigate to C:\CHART\MIQUEST under section labeled Other. Figure 11 Network and Local Desktop Drives As Seen In Remote Vision 5.2 Highlight all the files in this folder ( Ctrl and A or SHIFT and End keys) followed by Edit >> Cut from the menu bar. 5.3 Navigate to G:\MIQUEST under Network Drives. (If the MIQUEST folder does not exist, create one from the main menu bar File >> New >>Folder). 5.4 From the menu bar, select Edit >> Paste. 5.5 Log into Vision 5.6 Click on Reporting. 14 5.9 Click on the drop down box underneath File and browse to the folder G:\MIQUEST as described in step 5.3. Figure 16 Locating the Miquest Files 5.10 Left click once on one of the files and hold down Ctrl key and press A to highlight them all. (Alternatively hold the SHIFT and END key). 15 5.11 Click on Import. Once all the queries have been imported, the following dialogue box will appear stating how many queries been imported. Click OK. Figure 22 Preparing To Export Queries 5.24 At the prompt Select Send Directory, browse to the folder where your queries are to be sent to. 22 5.25 When all the queries have been exported, the screen will go blank. You can now exit MIQUEST. Figure 24 Files Have Successfully Exported 5.26 Remaining within Remote Vision, go to My Computer and navigate to G:\MIQUEST under Network Drives Highlight one file. Hold down the Ctrl and A key to highlight all the files in the folder. From the menu bar, select Edit >> Cut Navigate to the C:\CHART\MIQUEST under section labeled Other. This is the hard drive of your local desktop pc. From the menu bar, select Edit >> Paste You may now close all windows open in Remote Vision and log off. Page 22 of 24

23 6 Viewing CHART Queries 6.1 Go back to CHART on your local desktop pc. Select Click here to view new results. Figure 25 Displaying Miquest Results 6.2 Open each report and archive them. Once archived, click the Home icon to exit the CHART application. Page 23 of 24
