6 The region The region shaped by viniculture is also called the German Tuscany, because of its mild climate with 1800 hours of sunshine per year and its great number of castles. The Palatinate Forest, the largest continuous block of forest in Central Europe, part of a trans-border biosphere reserve with France, provides excellent possibilities for outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing or mountain biking and is a paradise for all nature lovers

17 Application requirements Bachelor degree in environmental sciences, geosciences or natural sciences Strong motivation for interdisciplinary work on environmentally relevant problems Disciplinary qualifications include (red is required) - biology / ecology - chemistry - physics - geoecology - GIS - mathematics / statistics - social sciences Ability to participate in courses taught in English. Necessary pre-requisites can be covered in bridge courses taken at the beginning of the Program.
