19 FIP-600 Apollo Processor The Apollo processor took HP three years to develop and is dedicated to high-end routers. Up to 20 Gbps line-rate processing for IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, GRE, and multicast services. The multicast replication units of Apollo reduce bandwidth consumption for carrying voice/video services and ensures smooth operation of multicast services by working together with the multicast replication function of the switching fabric to form a threelevel multicast replication structure: Ingress switching fabric egress Apollo supports hierarchical QoS (HQoS). HQoS provides the following features: Scheduling mechanisms based on port, user group, user, and user service Congestion queue scheduling, congestion avoidance, traffic policing, traffic shaping, and priority marking 200 ms buffering 19

20 WAN Aggregation Virtualization (Future release Q4 2013) The HP HSR6800 uses IRF to implement WAN aggregation virtualization. IRF enables two HSR6800 routers to form a single device. IRF delivers the following benefits: Simplified management: The fact that two routers work as one virtual device simplifies device management and network topology management, improves O&M efficiency, and lowers maintenance costs. High availability: IRF allows for cross-chassis bundling of Ethernet and POS WAN links to implement load sharing and link backup. This mechanism enhances network redundancy, improves link utilization, removes single points of failure, speeds up whole-network convergence, and avoids service interruption. Good scalability: The virtual device has doubled slots, ports, and performance. 20

22 Secure Inter-Cloud Interconnection The HP HSR6800 can provide highly-reliable, highly secure connections among data centers. It uses IPsec to ensure transmission security over GRE tunnels, and uses VPLSoGREoIPSec to interconnect data centers at Layer-2. The VPLSoGREoIPSec solution uses the existing IP network as the core, configures two routers for each data center as PE devices, and uses the distribution devices of each data center as CE devices that support IRF2. In addition, this solution uses IRF2 to implement fast failover for each CE's two uplinks to PEs. 22
