1 About AUC - School of Business The School of Business was launched in 2009, as part of a restructuring of the former School of Business, Economics and Communication (BEC), established in The School offers four undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Arts in economics, accounting, business administration and business administration with a concentration in the management of information and communication technology. It also offers four graduate programs: Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in economics, Master of Arts in economics in international development and Master of Science in finance. AUC s School of Business is recognized as the top private business school in Egypt and one of the top in the Arab world and Africa. AUC s MBA program, which started more than three decades ago, was ranked by Forbes Middle East in February 2012 as the first among similar programs in 37 private universities in the Arab world. The school of Business of the American University in Cairo recently became a signatory to PRME. The importance of the first MENA region PRME forum is amplified by the recent and ongoing political, economic, and social changes in the region. Such changes are expected to profoundly affect academic institutions, business scholars, market participants, and society at large. The main objective of this forum is promoting the notion of responsible management and the importance adopting PRME by MENA region institutions. Business Schools Round Table Food Crisis Challenges and Opportunities for Supply Chain Excellence in Africa 4 October Cairo, Egypt The Business Schools Roundtable is an initiative by the School of Business of the American University in Cairo to address key priority challenges facing the African continent with different players from Africa as well as other stakeholders interested in discussing joint collaborative educational and research projects and activities that can help meet those challenges. The roundtable is a one-day event focusing on priority issues for the African continent and studying how business schools and different stakeholders can address these issues. The inaugural of the Business Schools Roundtable is scheduled for 4 October 2011 to be hosted at the School of Business at The American University in Cairo, Egypt and will focus on food crisis challenges and opportunities for supply chain excellence in Africa. This pressing problem has been capturing the attention of national and international leaders in the world for a long time and educational institutions are believed to have the tools and reach to support addressing these issues. The roundtable is intended to be a platform to discuss those priority issues, identify and discuss the possible role and contributions that schools of business could play as part of their social responsibility and contribution to socioeconomic development. 2 P a g e
