4 MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD As we celebrate Abu Dhabi University s induction into its second decade since its inception in 2003, I find it fitting that our celebrations of 10 Years of Excellence coincide with the implementation of the University s 5 year Strategic Plan for ADU is still a relatively young thriving university. As one of its founding members, it is with a sense of pleasure and pride that I look back on its many accomplishments in these short years including being the youngest university to ever enter the ranks of the world s top 650 universities in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world university rankings of Building on the momentum of these achievements, we have linked our brand to a promise offered to the community embodied in the ADU motto of Today We Create Tomorrow s Success. This strategic plan is designed to enable us to keep our promise, create a student-centered learning environment conductive to intellectual and professional growth, and elevate Abu Dhabi University to greater heights and international success. 6 MESSAGE FROM THE CHANCELLOR Progress and growth are as much about looking towards the future as they are about building on and learning from our past. Our success in implementing Abu Dhabi University s first 5 year strategic plan has left us with an unquenchable thirst for further success. From creating a student-centered learning environment to achieving operational excellence, we have managed to achieve many of the goals we set out to reach 10 years ago. Carrying out ADU s second 5 year strategic plan will enable us to not only offer world-class education to more students, but will also empower us to achieve international standards of academic innovation and professional excellence on every level. Ten years have passed since the establishment of Abu Dhabi University. As we have grown over the years, so have our goals and the challenges that come with attempting to achieve them. When we first opened our doors to students in 2003, we enrolled 852 students in 7 bachelor programs. Today, our family has grown to 5,000 undergraduate students enrolled in 26 bachelors programs and almost 1,000 postgraduate students enrolled in 9 masters programs, in addition to our unique DBA program. This is a clear testament that ADU is ushering in a new era that brings forth more promise, progress and further accomplishments. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor, Abu Dhabi University 3
