Web Site School Dude School Dude Technology and School Dude If the technology issue is not in School Dude, the issue will never be resolved. The district technicians need the School Dude ticket to work on the issue. The ticket is assigned to a specific technician depending on your specific issue Progress e mails are sent as the status of the ticket changes. 4 District Web Page Content Management System (CMS) All teachers have a teacher page Teachers are required to have a Welcome page with picture and A homework or newsletter page Make your web page useful to parents and students School Wires Use Novell login credentials District web guidelines Do not post pictures where one can see student faces, including a student profile. Can post pictures depicting the back of students heads or Activities in which students are participating. Posting of student faces requires written permission and kept on file. School Wires Create PDF Files PDF files are preferred when posting to the Internet. Teacher laptops will have a PDF Creator software installed This will be a printer selection to create the PDF file. Give the file a name and location when prompted Use of copy machines with capabilities Usually located in the school s front office. Check your junk mail for scanner@schoolname 4

Fair Use laws are limited to a specific classroom Lasts for a period of 1 year Video = 10% or 3 minutes, which ever is less. Audio = 10% or 30 seconds, which ever is less. 7 Virus Protection is installed on the laptops It does the best it can, but is not perfect Viruses are most commonly received when out of the district network Be aware of what you are clicking on Be aware of the types of websites you are visiting Multiple layers of protection within the district, not just virus protection. Viruses If you do get a virus, laptop will most likely be reimaged Use of Connect automatically backs up your files Do NOT back up your itunes folder Back this up separately to a portable drive You need to back up your data, NOT a technician. Viruses Become comfortable in switching between wireless connections APWS requires configuration and credentials Novell credentials APWS is the wireless across all schools and the district office.
