1 MSN Exit Interview Post Masters Entry-Collected 2014 The VUSN Exit Interview was taken by 16 post masters entry graduates between April 2014 and December Those invited to participate graduated in May, August or December We do not have information to assess the response rate of the post masters entry group separately. Response rate across both groups to the initial invitation and reminder sent to 404 graduates between April 2014 and December 2014 was 36%. Demographics We did not ask demographic information this survey year. Specialization N=16 Specialty n % Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (including ACNP/FNP-ED) Adult Nurse Practitioner (all types) Family Nurse Practitioner 0 Health Systems Management Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Nursing Informatics Nurse-midwifery (including nurse-midwifery/fnp) Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (primary & acute) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (all types) 0 Women s Health Nurse Practitioner (including WHNP/ANP) Background Information Concerning MSN Program Thirty-one percent of the participants (n=5) did not work at any time while attending. However, 44% worked full time time (n=7) and 19% (n=3) worked part time while completing the VUSN program. Six percent of respondents (n=1) varied between full and part time work. The average number of semesters taken to complete the MSN program was 5.1 (SD 2.0), with a range of 3 to 9 semesters. Respondents were asked to indicate their perception of their ability upon graduation from the MSN program on a 5 item scale (very poor, poor, adequate, good, excellent). Program Satisfaction Students were asked to rate their satisfaction with the MSN program as a whole on a 5 item scale ( low, Low, Neutral, High, high). The majority of respondents (75%, n=12) rated their satisfaction as high or very high. 2

4 Role Expectation When asked what setting they were or expected to be employed in as an advanced practice nurse, 38% (n=6) chose academic practice/hospital and one quarter of the respondents (25%, n=4) chose private hospital. Respondents were asked what primary role they were or expected to be employed in. When asked about current job title, the most commonly cited title was registered nurse (22%, n=2). Fifty-four percent of the respondents (n=7) who worked while a student planned on working for the same agency after graduation. Thirty-one percent (n=4) did not plan on working for the same agency. Seventy-one percent (n=10) of respondents not currently working in an advanced practice position (n=14) had started interviewing for a position specific to their MSN or post-masters specialization.
