Operating Instructions Sartorius Evaluation Software for SPCfWin (Sartorius ProControl for Windows)
Intended Use Sartorius is a software program for analyzing and evaluating process data that have been collected with the SPCfWin (Sartorius ProControl for Windows) program, version 4.90 and later. Data can be collected and stored during production. Therefore, they are available as a quick source of information in the areas of process and quality control and enable the user to intervene in the production process on a regular basis. Sartorius ProControl@Informer offers a variety of selection options. Layouts and templates can be stored for later use and accessed when needed. Collected data can also be exported via drag and drop, for example, to MS Excel (for spreadsheet calculation) or as a PDF (Portable Data Format) file using the built-in PDF Maker tool. In this way, stored data can be used to provide evidence or to prepare a report (optional with individual values or graphics of average values) and can therefore also be used for presentations. This manual describes the installation and basic operation of the SPC@Informer program for computers running Windows XP. The installation procedure is similar if you are using a different Windows version. 4 Program Functions Data selection according to various individual and combined criteria. Selection options, also with multiple choices and or wildcards (? *), are possible. Once a template has been created, it can be stored at any time and accessed for later use. Evaluation of all process data compiled in SPCfWin, such as: Average weight control quantities Attributes SPC attributes HACCP tests, etc. Evaluations of automatic statistics: evaluations of samples, cumulative if required, with individual values, graphics of averages or a combination of both. Simple selection of samples including tolerance limits that have been violated, comments and/or compiled action codes. An initial selection of data can be fine-tuned on several levels. Using drag and drop, sorted data (even nested data) can be introduced and the sorting order changed very easily. Intuitive operation through extensive use of the functionalities of MS Windows or MS Office: Wildcards * and? Filtering by column for lighteningfast selection (similar to Autofilter in MS Excel) Data can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on the column headers. Export of a complete evaluation to Excel or as a PDF file for further data preparation and analysis Each step can be separately canceled and corrected. The following options can be selected: AWC Attribute SPC Archive If archived data are to be evaluated, you must click on the corresponding W field to indicate this selection. Additional Filters and Templates To limit the search criteria and enable a targeted evaluation to be performed, the program offers several additional filters and selection fields. You can enter these settings by doubleclicking on the adjacent drop-down menu. 12
AWC Filter: If you select the AWC filter, certain data will be filtered out so that they can be viewed separately or further evaluated. The following filters can be selected: Tare Density Only tolerance limit violations: T2, T1, T, +T, Mean<Nominal, Std.dev..>Std.max You can activate the search filters by clicking on the particular W field. If you have selected the corresponding search criteria, click on [ Evaluation ] to start the evaluation. Attribute Filter: If you select an attribute filter, certain data will be filtered out so that they can be viewed separately or further evaluated. The following filters can be selected: Only violations, Errors per sample > Specify characteristics: e.g.: Attribute test You can activate the search filters by clicking on the particular W field. If you have selected the corresponding search criteria, click on [ Evaluation ] to start the evaluation. 13
SPC Filter: If you select an SPC filter, certain data will be filtered out so that they can be viewed separately or further evaluated. The following filters can be selected: Only limit violations: LTL, LCL, LWL, VWL, VWL, VCL, UTL Specify characteristics: e.g.: SPC test You can activate the search filters by clicking on the particular W field. If you have selected the corresponding search criteria, click on [ Evaluation ] to start the evaluation. Templates: Evaluations can be stored as files in folders, used as templates or archived for later use. Templates are frequently used evaluation examples that have been stored in an archive or under a file name. You can define the file path for the stored files by selecting [ Options ] in the main menu. By selecting [ Views ] you can access the related path and the stored data (templates). Views: Can be selected or deleted. Selection: Here you can store or delete the previous selection of data. 14
Statistics Selecting Statistics for Evaluation If you click on the Statistic type field, a drop-down menu will appear in which you can select the type of statistic you would like. The following types of statistics can be selected: Annual statistics Monthly statistics Weekly statistics Daily statistics Shift statistics Hourly statistics Batch statistics Once you have selected the type of statistic, one or more time periods will be displayed in the field underneath. You can select these time periods by using the arrow keys and then clicking the Get list button. Main Selection Criteria In the same way as described in the section entitled Selecting Data for Sample Evaluation, the user has the option of setting the parameters for the desired evaluation under General data. The same is true for Include and Archive as well as the additional filters for AWC, SPC, and Attribute. Of course you can store these settings as a template that can be accessed later if necessary or deleted if no longer required. 15
Samples with Action Codes Data are selected for samples with action codes and samples with comments, including filters and templates, in the same way as described in the section entitled Samples (All). 16
Samples with Comments Data are selected for samples with action codes and samples with comments, including filters and templates, in the same way as described in the section entitled Samples (All). 17
Starting Evaluation Once you have defined all the selection criteria, click on the [ Start evaluation ] button to initiate evaluation of the data. Example View of a sample evaluation of all products (In the example presented here, only the left portion of the screen is shown due to space constraints.) Evaluation Menu The main evaluation menu gives you the option of further processing stored data. Data can be printed out, exported to Excel, for example, or processed in columns. Under [ Load view ] you can access views that have already been processed and stored. These can then be used as templates. Newly created views can be stored and managed. 18
Choosing Columns Under [ Columns ] you can define which columns you would like to have displayed. Click on the corresponding W field to activate that particular column. Once the desired columns have been selected, the display format of the table is initially defined. The table on the left shows an example of the columns selected. You can still modify the table displayed after you have selected the desired columns. Using drag and drop (in much the same way as in Windows) you can shift the individual columns. Please see the example on the following pages. If certain columns are not displayed (not activated) and you would like them to be included in the evaluation, you can select them via the [ Columns ] function. 19
Views of the evaluation can be selected individually. For example, you can place individual columns in the desired positions using drag and drop and also adjust the width of the columns. Like in Windows, you can modify the width of the individual columns and/or shift them around using drag and drop. The following example shows how to shift a column to a new position. 20
Once you have selected the columns, positioned them as desired and adjusted the column width, you can store this newly created template on the hard disk for later evaluations by selecting [ Save view as ]. If you would like this view to be the default at the beginning of evaluation, save this template under [ Save view as default ]. In addition, the data of a certain column can be selected as a basis (starting point) for further analyses. Here is an example: The header of the particular column (Machine ID) is dragged and dropped so that it is positioned below the menu line. If the header has been repositioned, the display will change. 21
Now the individual machine IDs in this example can be opened and viewed separately. 22
Printing an Evaluation When you click on the arrow (next to the [ Print ] button), a pull down menu opens. The selection options include: Current view Report Current View If you have selected this view, a page setup window will be displayed (like in Windows) so that you can select the format for printing. After you click [ OK ] the page will be displayed as it will be printed (print preview). You can scroll through the pages by clicking on the arrows [ Up/Down ]. To start printing in accordance with the print preview display, click on the print symbol (printer icon). 23
Report If you selected [ Report ], a variety of other options will be displayed in the Report settings window. You can define the settings for the format of the printout by clicking one of the following buttons: Print only one line per batch Print every sample charrsid (If you select the Print every sample option, you can also check the box with single values. This will generate a printout for every sample that includes individual values as well.) You can select further options for the format of the printout (under Settings ) by checking additional boxes: Cumulate batches Show graphics If you activate the [ Print only one line per batch ] button and confirm by clicking [ OK ], the following screen will be displayed (example): 24
If you activate the [ Print every sample ] button and confirm by clicking [ OK ], the following screen will appear (example): 25
If you have also checked the box in front of [ Show graphics ] and confirmed by clicking [ OK ], a graphic for the mean value will be output in addition (see the example belowid): Generating a Report with Individual Values Example: Print preview of report with individual values (page 1 of 464 pages). (In this example, only the upper left portion of the display is shown due to space constraints.) Please note: If you click on the print symbol ( printer icon in the menu bar ) the printout will be generated in accordance with the print preview display. 26
Export You can export the displayed evaluation (according to the particular table) to another program (e.g., Excel) via the [ Export ] function. Example: The Excel file is created and the file name and corresponding path indicating where the file has been stored are displayed. For example, the Excel file has been stored in a folder (see figure on the left). Afterwards this file can be further processed with Excel. You can also create a PDF file using the Adobe PDF function in Excel. For example, the PDF file is stored in a folder (figure on the left). 27
