In 2011, it was a major contributor to the Canadian economy adding $315.3 billion to the national GDP. Canada, has a well-educated labour force with over 14.8 million individuals with a post-secondary certificate, diploma and/or degree. Approximately 22 per cent of them with a major field of study in business, management and public administration, architecture, engineering, and related technologies. To the tremendous benefit of Canada and its residents, banking in Canada is considered to be the most efficient and safest banking system in the world, according to the World Economic Forum Canadian Business Patterns National Household Survey Ontario: employs over one million people in the business services sector Ontario facts by the numbers In Ontario, the business services sector is comprised of close to 200,000 firms and is a driving force for the provincial economy. Accounting for almost 41 per cent of the national total jobs, the business services industries in Ontario added $174 billion to the national GDP in Over one million people, or 43 per cent of Canada s labour force, are employed in the business services sector in Ontario, in particular, business, finance and administration occupations 2. Ontario boasts a sizeable proportion of graduates with over 1.2 million individuals with a post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in business, management or public administration, architecture, engineering, and related technologies. For investors, the Toronto Stock Exchange is the third largest exchange in North America, and the seventh largest in the world. In Brampton, this sector is responsible for employing 10,500 people people directly, with another 20,000 plus individuals indirectly employed 3. Combined, this creates a total workforce of 30,500, which represents seven per cent of the total workforce in Brampton. In 2011, Brampton s GDP directly contributed an impressive $6 billion to the province. There are over 50,000 individuals in Brampton who have studied business, management or public administration and over 43,500 who have studied architecture, engineering, and related technologies that have a postsecondary certificate, diploma or degree.
